Position: Cook 1

Four Seasons Hotel Casa Medina Bogotá is seeking a passionate Cook 1 who shares a commitment to excellence and enthusiasm. Our cooks help shape the guest experience. This position reports to the Sous Chef and requires a Colombian work permit.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare food according to restaurant and event orders, maintaining consistent quality, following recipes, and adhering to standards for production, portioning, and presentation.
  • Ensure daily breakfast production meets quality standards.
  • Prepare food in advance, avoiding over-preparation.
  • Operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment properly, including fryers, grills, stoves, steamers, food processors, mixers, slicers, ovens, water boilers, waffle irons, and griddles.
  • Label all food containers with dates and rotate stock according to policies, maintaining proper temperatures for perishable items.
  • Determine preparation requirements, manage freezer and line setup, note any shortages, and return unused items to storage with proper labeling and dating.
  • Assist in planning and implementing cost control measures, minimizing waste and loss, and managing food usage as per policies.
  • Work in an organized and clean manner, complying with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Supervise and ensure all cooks perform assigned tasks, maintaining quality standards.
  • Participate in operational activities, supervision, and special projects as directed by supervisors.
  • Collaborate harmoniously with colleagues.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Sous Chef or Food & Beverage Management.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• Proper personal hygiene and presentation

• Technical culinary diploma

• Over two years of experience in high-end hotels and/or fine dining restaurants

• Basic knowledge of Spanish cuisine

• Knowledge of cooking techniques

• Full availability

• Preferably close to residence or easy commute

• Ability to manage inventories

• Familiarity with kitchen equipment such as Rational ovens, convection ovens, sous-vide machines, vacuum sealers

• Knowledge of recycling standards

• Basic English skills
