StoneX Group Inc. is seeking a senior Database Administration leader to drive the global database estate, focusing on Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Azure cloud technologies.

You will mentor teams, shape strategy, and implement automated, scalable database solutions across the organization. The role emphasizes modernizing platforms, implementing IaC, and leveraging AI-enabled operations while ensuring availability, security, and regulatory compliance.

Formación

Responsibilities

Job Purpose: To lead and develop StoneX's global Database Administration team while driving the adoption of modern database platforms, automation, DevOps practices, and AI-enabled operational capabilities.

The successful candidate will oversee the delivery, reliability, security, and strategic direction of StoneX's database estate, with a particular focus on Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, cloud technologies, and database automation.

This role combines technical leadership, people management, and strategic planning to ensure the database platform continues to support the firm's growth, innovation, and regulatory requirements.

Primary duties will include:

• Partner with the EMEA/APAC Team Lead to lead, mentor, and develop the US Database Administration team, ensuring operational excellence, technical growth, and successful delivery of strategic initiatives. Manage workload prioritization, project delivery, operational support, and on-call activities.
• Drive the strategic adoption and expansion of Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server across the organization.
• Partner with Architecture, Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, and Development teams to deliver scalable database solutions.
• Develop and maintain database standards, governance, and operational best practices.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes through scripting, Infrastructure-as-Code, and self-service capabilities.
• Promote the use of AI-assisted operational tooling to improve efficiency, monitoring, troubleshooting, and knowledge management.
• Lead database modernization initiatives, cloud adoption, migrations, and platform upgrades.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, security, compliance, and operational excellence across database platforms.
• Provide technical leadership during major incidents and critical projects.
• Contribute to database roadmap planning and technology strategy.

Qualifications

To Land this role you will need:

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments.
• Good working knowledge of PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability technologies.
• Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical database environments.
• Experience with Azure cloud platform.
• Strong scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies.
• Experience implementing database monitoring, observability, and operational tooling.
• Knowledge of database backup, disaster recovery, replication, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar platforms.

Leadership Skills

• Proven experience leading, mentoring, or managing technical teams.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing workloads and deliver multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working with globally distributed teams.
• Ability to influence technical direction and drive organizational change.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive PostgreSQL experience, including architecture and enterprise-scale deployments.
• Experience leading database platform modernization initiatives.
• Experience with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience integrating AI tools into operational workflows, automation, monitoring, or support processes.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Financial services or highly regulated industry experience.
• Knowledge of Oracle/MongoDB Atlas or other NoSQL database technologies.
