Job summary

Compass Pointe Consulting, LLC is seeking an experienced Automation Test Engineer to create and execute automated tests for mission critical software subsystems, including radio-telephone communications software, ensuring quality across release cycles.

You will design, develop, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, collaborate with manual testers and DevOps, and produce dashboards and metrics to track test progress and coverage.

Qualifications

• BS in IT, CS, EE or equivalent with 3+ years IT and telecom hardware/software.
• At least 5 years automation test-related work experience.
• Hands-on with Selenium or similar.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins).
• Experience with Jira and Jama test management.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork.
• Solid problem solving and analytical skills; Agile/Scrum aware.

Job Duties Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and executing automation tests of Mission Critical software subsystems, radio-telephone communications software to meet customer requirements. The candidate will help drive efficiency and speed in our release cycles. The candidate will be working in a fast passed environment where priorities can shift quickly, therefore flexibility and focus are essential. The candidate will manage the design, development and execution of automated tests for the software releases. Integrate the automation tests into the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring quick feedback in release cycles.

Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties:

• Collaborate with manual testers, dev ops engineers and integration lead to identify automation candidates from each software drop
• Design, develop and implement automation regression test suites that validate features end to end
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for quick feedback in the release cycles
• Manage and produce clear automation dashboards, test reports and metrics for the assigned Test program(s), including # of scripts executed, pass/fail reports
• Troubleshoot valid test failures, automation false negatives to continuously improve the automation stability and coverage
• Fully document any defects/unexpected anomalies identified during automation testing
• Identify and propose areas of improvement throughout the Release process

Qualifications:

• BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience (at least 3 years) with IT and telecommunications hardware and software
• At least 5 years automation test-related work experience
• Hands on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, or similar
• Familiar with CI/CD pipeline (GitLab, Jenkins….)
• Understanding of containerization, virtualization such as Kubernetes
• Experience with bug-tracking systems (e.g., JIRA (preferred)) and Test Management Systems (e.g., JAMA)
• Strong written and communication skills - ability to communicate progress/problems, test design with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Excellent problem solving, analytical and technical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects,
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Strong understanding in QA methodology, Agile/Scrum software development processes and project life cycles
