Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress. We’re seeking an AI Engineer & Systems Architect who thrives at speed and depth, using AI tools to accelerate development while mastering system architecture, security, and scalability.

You will design and orchestrate complex web ecosystems, review AI-generated code, integrate external APIs and self-hosted models, and build robust data pipelines and state management for generative AI apps. This is an onsite Bogotá opportunity.

Formación

• Deep understanding of modern web architectures (distributed systems, event-driven, microservices).
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and correct complex code generated by AI.
• Experience with AI-assisted development and tooling.

About the role

We are seeking an AI Engineer & Systems Architect who excels at building at the speed of thought. You embrace modern "vibe coding" (leveraging AI coding assistants to rapidly generate syntax and accelerate development) but your true value lies in your deep, foundational software engineering expertise. You do not blindly rely on Large Language Models (LLMs) to do the work; instead, you command them. You use your rigorous understanding of system architecture and code mechanics to orchestrate, debug, and weave together complex, deeply intertwined web applications. In this role, you will act as the master architect, using AI to amplify your output while ensuring the underlying infrastructure remains secure, scalable, and technically sound.

What you’ll do

• Architect Complex Web Ecosystems: Design and build intricate, highly intertwined web applications, ensuring seamless communication across diverse microservices, frontend interfaces, and backend AI models.
• High-Velocity AI-Assisted Development: Utilize AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to execute rapid "vibe coding" and prototyping, translating product vision into functional systems at unprecedented speeds.
• Rigorous Code Orchestration & Review: Act as the final gatekeeper for AI-generated code. Apply your deep foundational knowledge to review, refactor, and debug complex logic, ensuring all outputs meet strict production-grade standards.
• Build AI-Powered Features: Integrate external commercial APIs, self-hosted open-source models, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks directly into complex web application workflows.
• Manage State and Data Flow: Engineer robust data pipelines and state management systems that can handle the unpredictable latency and complex data structures inherent in generative AI applications.

What we’re looking for

• Advanced Systems Architecture: Deep understanding of modern web architectures (e.g., distributed systems, event-driven architecture, microservices) and how to untangle and manage deeply intertwined codebases.
• Software Engineering Fundamentals: A rock-solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns. You must possess the ability to instantly read, comprehend, and correct complex code generated by AI.
• Full-Stack & Web Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of modern full-stack web development (e.g., React, Next.js, Node.js, Python/FastAPI) and the intricacies of managing complex state, websockets, and API integrations.
• AI Tooling Mastery: Proven experience working alongside AI agents and coding assistants to multiply engineering output, coupled with a pragmatic understanding of their limitations and hallucination risks.
• Infrastructure & Deployment: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern CI/CD pipelines to deploy multi-tiered web applications.
