Job summary

SmartRecruiters, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to support a high-traffic live event platform. You will diagnose production issues across backend and frontend systems, partner with client-facing teams, and keep events running reliably.

Java and Spring Boot are the primary focus, with senior-level ownership and autonomy across multiple projects. Enterprise experience is strongly preferred and Python/Django is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot experience as the primary backend skill set.
• React experience for frontend development and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Kafka and GraphQL.
• Experience with SQL or MongoDB.
• Experience with software build and deployment processes.
• Senior-level ability to ramp up quickly and take ownership across multiple projects with a high degree of autonomy.
• Experience with at least one of: Dagster, Data Lakes, Amazon Athena.

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Windsurf.
• Demonstrated initiative in taking work through code merging and deployment without close supervision.
• Clear, concise communication and comfort working through ambiguity.
• Strong prioritization and strategic thinking skills.Experience using data to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
