Bechtel is seeking a Senior Engineer of Costs and Field Planning for the Escondida New Truck Shop project. The role focuses on control, analysis, projection, and reporting of costs and schedules for two scopes: the new concrete batching plant and the existing plant operation.

You will serve as the field Project Controls focal point, delivering timely information to support management decisions and ensuring dashboards, budgets, and staffing plans stay aligned with contract requirements.

• Experience in Project Control/Cost Management.
• Experience in engineering and construction management projects, ideally in mining.
• Experience in engineering, procurement, contracting and construction.
• Demonstrated experience in cost estimation, cost control and cost analysis.
• Budget/forecast monitoring and cost/commitment analysis.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Project Overview:

Escondida New Truck Shop:
The Escondida New Truck Shop (ENTS) Project involves construction of a modern truck shop, located northeast of the existing facility, with 24 bays measuring 24m x 24m, plus eight bays for auxiliary equipment measuring 18m x 24m. The new shop is located outside the mine's facilities and near the mine road that deposits ore into the sulfide stockpile. The scope also includes construction of a new warehouse adjacent to the shop.

Job Summary:

The Senior Engineer of Costs and Field Planning will be responsible for the control, analysis, projection and reportability of costs and schedule associated with two scopes of the project: the construction of the new concrete batching plant and the operation/production of the existing plant. You will act as the focal point of Project Controls in the field, delivering timely and reliable information that supports the decision-making of the project management.

The main focuses of the role will be:

• Manage and keep updated the cost control and scope planning dashboard.
• Control the budget of the concrete supply contract, including commitments, incurred and projections.
• To plan and control the production of concrete, monitoring the progress and compliance with the plan.
• Control and monitor costs, progress and schedule of the construction of the new plant.
• Control man hours and scope staffing, ensuring up-to-date information for the General Staffing Plan of the project.

This position will be based on terrain, Antofagasta region, in turn 8x6 or 5x2 to be defined.

Major Responsibilities:

• Coordinating with other members of the project team and providing cost and planning support.
• Executing the cost control and planning activities, in accordance with the contractual requirements, objectives and procedures established by Bechtel and the customer.
• Preparing cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis and cost and quantity comparisons, when required.
• Preparing cost trend estimates in support of the project's cost trend program.
• Monitoring and support the registration, tracking and reporting processes of costs and planning, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
• Getting information from suppliers to update the cost database.
• Participating in meetings and discussions with suppliers.
• Being responsible for the development and accuracy of cost and planning reports.
• Checking the consistency with previous reports to ensure the compatibility of the information.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience in Project Control/Cost Management.
• Experience in engineering and construction management projects, ideally in mining, usually acquired over time through specialized instruction or hands-on experience.
• Experience in engineering, procurement, contracting and construction.
• Demonstrated experience in the execution, monitoring and evaluation of cost engineering activities, including cost estimation, cost control and cost analysis.
• Demonstrated ability in budget/forecast monitoring and cost and commitment analysis.
• Experience in preparing cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis and cost and quantity comparisons.
• Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
• Ability to work in a team and be proactive.
• Demonstrated flexibility to respond to urgent project requirements and/or adapt to changes in priorities.
• Skills to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Strong command of Microsoft tools, especially Excel.
• Desirable handling of Power BI, but not exclusive
• Knowledge Primavera P6.
• Knowledge of EcoSys software is desirable but not exclusive.
