Bechtel is seeking a Process and Operational Readiness Engineer for our Santiago, Chile assignment. This part-time telework role requires at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the office or project, with on-site visits as needed.

The role focuses on developing and leading engineering studies—tradeoffs, conceptual designs, technology applications, scoping—and guiding sizing of mineral processing circuits.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university; 15+ years in mineral processing or related field.
• 10+ years in projects and operations of mineral processing plants, including Operational Readiness.
• Commissioning experience and plant ramp-up of a mineral processing facility.

Project Overview

Mining and Metals: Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy-and the need for commodities-is critical to underpinning the energy transition. Job Summary

The position will be responsible for developing and leading Engineering Studies, e.g. Tradeoff studies, conceptual, technology application, scoping, and any study up to FS. The Process Engineer will provide guidance on the sizing and selection of mineral processing circuits, such as SABC/Stage Crushing, Flotation and Dewatering. They will have experience in process test work campaigns, interpretation of test results, and development of process design criteria. They will have a comprehensive knowledge of the latest industry trends in comminution and flotation design. Also, the specialist is expected to take part in on‑site visits, resolve complex operational problems applying specialized engineering, scientific principles, and applied technology. Regarding Operational Readiness it will be expected to work and develop procedures and activities required for smooth transition from study phases and project execution to stable operation in close coordination with project owner and other contractors in the field.

Weekly in‑person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership".

Major Responsibilities

• Serve as consultant to clients and/or internally to project and specialty engineering or scientific groups providing advice and counsel on special and unique assignments.
• Review process engineering or scientific concepts, studies, drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Interface with client personnel to determine their needs, develop the scope for studies and cost estimates for service and participate in proposal preparation and presentation.
• Develop Operational Readiness Documents and Guidelines to assure smooth transition from project to operation.
• Provide guidance and direction to engineering personnel in the development of advanced design criteria and specifications.
• Create and maintain accurate documentation of drawings, design concepts, process sheets, procedures, and concepts.
• Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.
• Present technical information at industry forums and internal technical meetings.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university as well as 15+ years of work experience relevant to the industry sector and 10 years or more of relevant experience in projects and operations of Mineral Processing Plants, including Operational Readiness.
• Commissioning experience and plant ramp‑up of a mineral processing facility.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• The Process Specialist will document relevant aspects of his activities and keep up-to-date project, operational, technology information in the Bechtel database.
• Commissioning experience and plant ramp‑up of a mineral processing facility.
• Process software simulation tool knowledge including JKSimMET, METSIM, and others.
• Thorough understanding of scientific engineering systems, calculations, applications and construction methods and materials, and engineering or scientific application of computers.
• Understanding of industrial and regulatory standards and design criteria in the engineering or scientific discipline.
• Knowledge of sector‑related design and execution practices and cost influences involved.
• High level of verbal and written communication skills
• Right to live and work in country of assignment without sponsorship
