Project Overview:

Mining and Metals:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will work with the project team to prepare schedule data for project execution. This will include schedule development, update of existing schedules, and development of “what-if” scenarios and forecasts. You will apply established unit job hour and pricing data, perform schedule integrations, prepare work logic, identify restraints and potential impacts, develop recovery plans, and evaluate subcontractor schedules for improvements. You will be instrumental in ensuring the project achieves its schedule.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Performing in-depth schedule analysis of both contractor schedules and the master schedule to identify project schedule impacts and identify and present mitigations for implementation.

  • Updating and maintain the project master schedule. Ensuring all project scope and correct logical relationships are reflected in the schedule.

  • Establishing control and monitoring milestones for the total project. Reviewing project work activities and logic to ensure the project milestones are not impacted or allow for early actions to be taken.

  • Issue alerts of possible changes in quantities or works on the ground that may affect the cost and deadline of the project.

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining resource loading and schedule levelling. Development of bulk commodity release and installation curves, jobhour curves, and percent complete curve. Ensuring integration of manpower requirements for each discipline or specialty in alignment with overall project objectives.

  • Collecting schedule details from all disciplines and contractors, identify and resolve any constraints impacting the overall project timeline.

  • Developing and issuing reports as required by Bechtel management. Compiling, summarizing, updating, and maintaining historical schedule data. Monitoring and report on the critical path and overall schedule performance of the project. Preparing and presenting the schedule impact report. Assisting in the development and review of schedule recovery plans.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (or international equivalent) and 8 10 years of relevant experience in Project Controls with an emphasis on planning and scheduling; or 12 - 14 years professional experience in lieu of degree.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning & scheduling functions for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). This includes schedule development, control, and analysis in both the field and the home office.

  • Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes in the mining industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop complete EPC schedules from scratch.

  • Skilled in understanding technical processes, engineering drawings, and quantity determinations.

  • Proficiency with multiple discipline specific software applications currently used in Bechtel (for example: Primavera, Primavera Risk Analysis, and Microsoft Office Applications).

  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
