Job summary

Ria Money Transfer in Santiago, Chile seeks a hands-on QA Automation Lead to own the automation framework, guide squads, and embed QA engineers in each squad. You will lead the Automation team's technical direction and build reusable test libraries integrated with CI/CD.

From day one, you will set the standard for Digital automation, drive AI-assisted testing, and track quality metrics while mentoring engineers across squads in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software QA, including 3+ years owning test automation frameworks.
• Experience leading or mentoring QA engineers.
• Strong coding skills in C#, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
• Hands-on with Selenium, Playwright, Appium, or similar.
• API test automation experience.
• CI/CD with Git and Azure DevOps.
• Databases: MSSQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB.
• Experience with AI tooling for test generation or AI-assisted testing is a plus.
• Excellent communication in English.

QA Automation Lead — Santiago, Chile

ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are seeking a hands‑on QA Automation Lead to join our Digital engineering team in Santiago, Chile. This is not a product‑testing role: you will lead the Automation team that builds and owns the QA framework every squad plugs into. QA engineers are embedded in each squad and automate as features are built — your team gives them the practices, the tooling, and the metrics that make that possible. You own the framework, and you automate hands‑on: writing test automation yourself alongside building the tools others use.

From day one you lead the Automation team's technical direction and day‑to‑day work. As the team grows, this role is expected to take on formal people management of its automation engineers — the QA engineers embedded in each squad remain with their squad's engineering manager.

REQUIREMENTS

• You lead the Automation team day to day — you set its technical direction, plan and prioritize its work, and answer for its results. As the team scales, you take on people management of its engineers: onboarding, coaching, and growth.
• You are the single owner of how Digital automates — the practices, the shared tooling, and the metrics that all squads follow. You define the standard and keep it consistent across teams.
• You design, build, and maintain the shared automation stack — test frameworks, reusable libraries, CI/CD integration, test environments, and reporting — so embedded QA engineers spend their time writing tests, not fighting tooling.
• You drive the adoption of AI agents in the testing workflow — test‑case generation from documentation, agent‑assisted execution, and automated test maintenance — as the default way coverage grows.
• You define and track quality metrics for the department — automated coverage, test reliability, execution time — and report progress against the coverage roadmap to engineering leadership.
• You onboard, coach, and support the QA engineers embedded in each squad. You review their automation work, spread good patterns, and remove technical blockers — leadership through enablement, not a reporting line.
• You work closely with squad leads, engineering managers, and principals to make automation part of the development flow — tests written as features are built, not after.

QUALIFICATIONS

• You have a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a comparable technical education.
• You have proven work experience (min 7 years) in software QA, including at least 3 years building or owning test automation frameworks used by multiple teams — ideally in a banking or fintech domain. Experience leading or mentoring other QA engineers is required.
• Ideally, you have knowledge of the following points:
  • Programming Languages & Frameworks: Strong coding skills in at least one of C#, Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript; hands‑on experience with Selenium, Playwright, Appium, or similar; API test automation (Postman/Newman, REST‑assured or equivalent); TestNG or comparable runners.
  • CI/CD & Infrastructure: Git, Azure DevOps pipelines, test execution in CI, test environments and data management.
  • Databases: MSSQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB.
  • Tools & Utilities: Elastic Stack, DataDog, LogRocket, Amplitude & Segment.
  • AI Tooling: Experience using LLM‑based agents or AI‑assisted tools for test generation, maintenance, or execution is a strong plus.
• You are a self‑starter and a builder — you'd rather ship a tool that removes a problem than manage the problem. You lead through influence, communicate clearly with engineers and leadership alike, and bring a logical and pragmatic attitude.
• You can easily communicate in English in our intercultural environment and in any situation.
