Medical Scientific Liaison (Field Medical) is a disease area expert responsible for scientific discussions and data dissemination within Pfizer. The role involves interacting with external stakeholders to share scientific knowledge about Pfizer's products and diseases, reporting high-quality Data Facts and Observations (DFOs), and providing strategic insights to Medical Affairs to support business strategies. The position requires identifying data generation needs and executing external medical initiatives and stakeholder engagement, serving as the main liaison between external and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide accurate and balanced scientific information on Pfizer's portfolio and disease areas, focusing on pre-launch (at least 6 months before launch) and post-launch phases, including competitor and related disease data.
  2. Dedicate approximately 90% of time to external activities, acting as an External Ambassador with Tier 1 and Tier 2 HCPs, clinical sites, investigators, and on an ad hoc basis with KOLs, major institutions, patient associations, and medical societies.
  3. Share stakeholder insights internally, identify collaboration opportunities to improve patient care, and contribute to medical strategy.
  4. Engage in partnerships to identify potential projects for independent medical grants and collaborative trials.
  5. Coordinate scientific events, including speaker training and ensuring ethical and scientific accuracy, following MA01 policy.
  6. Cultivate research and therapeutic expertise, staying updated with congress data and literature.

Role Description:

The MSL builds scientific partnerships with local KOLs through qualified approaches, resulting in access and advocacy based on evidence. They execute medical and communication plans aligned with strategic goals, providing scientific support to healthcare professionals while ensuring compliance.

MSLs establish and maintain peer relationships with leading physicians at academic institutions, societies, hospitals, and healthcare centers. They interact cross-functionally within Pfizer and other supporting areas.

Required Skills:

  • Medical Degree preferred; Ph.D. or Pharm.D. desirable.
  • Medical training or clinical experience in the therapeutic area is desirable.
  • Industry experience (at least one year as MSL) is desirable.
  • Master’s in Pharma, Biotechnology, or related fields is desirable.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech companies in MSL or similar roles is desirable.
  • Knowledge of regulatory affairs, drug safety, legal, and compliance environments.
  • Strong customer orientation and scientific communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel; valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work under deadlines.
  • Experience in medical writing and peer review is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-functional teams and proficiency in computer skills.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Audience management and business orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Understanding of the healthcare environment, codes of practice, drug development, clinical research, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory legislation.
