Blacksmith Agency is a fully remote US digital agency with 30 to 40 people, delivering websites, SEO, paid media and branding. As Head of Finance and Operations you own finance end to end plus people operations, reporting directly to ownership as the senior finance leader. You run it on your own.

You will manage month-end close, forecasting, unit economics and a scalable payroll and contracts process across remote teams in several countries, with overlap to US business hours.

Qualifications

• You have run finance yourself and owned the close.
• Independent and driven; you work without a checklist.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills and experience with QuickBooks or Xero.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsabilités

• Own end-to-end finance operations: monthly close, cash, payables and receivables.
• Lead FP&A: revenue, margins, cash flow models and forecasts; analyze unit economics.
• Oversee people operations for a remote team across multiple countries, including onboarding and offboarding.
• Provide clear ownership updates to leadership on business standing and actions.

About The Role

Blacksmith Agency is a fully remote US digital agency of 30 to 40 people running websites, SEO, paid media and branding. As Head of Finance and Operations you own finance end to end, plus the people operations that go with it, reporting straight to ownership as the senior finance person. You run it on your own.

What You Will Own

• Finance: clean books with our bookkeeper, the monthly close, cash, payables, receivables and controls.
• FP&A: revenue, margin and cash flow models and forecasts, monthly actual versus forecast, unit economics and the capacity model that says when to hire.
• People operations: onboarding and offboarding for a remote team across several countries, contracts, payroll setup, access in and out.
• Plain answers for ownership on where the business stands and what to do about it.

What You Need

• You have run finance yourself: built the models, owned the close and answered to ownership for the numbers.
• Independent and driven. Nobody hands you a checklist.
• Strong Google Sheets or Excel, QuickBooks or Xero, and clear written and spoken English.
• Full time as your only job, with substantial overlap with US business hours. Services or agency finance is a plus.
