R2 is seeking a Forward-Deployed Engineer (IC4) to bridge our core technology with partner platforms, collaborating with partner engineering and data teams to bring R2’s financial products to life. You’ll work with backend and data teams, often accessing live partner data under strict compliance to diagnose, debug, and optimize integrations.

This senior, hands-on role demands autonomy and a customer-embedded mindset.

Formación

• 6-8+ years of backend, infrastructure, or data engineering, ideally in fintech or SaaS integrations.
• Proficiency with Python, Go, Node.js, REST APIs, and SQL.
• Strong understanding of data systems, access control, and secure data handling; cloud platforms a plus.
• Experience working directly with external engineering teams to translate business needs into robust integrations.
• Comfortable debugging production systems and handling sensitive data under compliance constraints.
• Self-starter who thrives with autonomy and ownership.

Responsabilidades

• Cross-functional collaboration: work with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to tailor systems for each partner.
• Operational excellence: create deployment playbooks, data access protocols, and documentation to scale secure integrations.

As a Forward-Deployed Engineer (IC4), you’ll be the bridge between R2’s core technology and our partner platforms, working directly with their engineering and data teams to bring R2’s financial products to life. You’ll operate at the intersection of software engineering, product integration, and data infrastructure, ensuring that our systems integrate deeply, securely, and elegantly into our partners’ ecosystems.

You’ll work closely with R2’s backend and data engineering teams and will often have privileged access to production and partner data (under strict need-to-know and compliance protocols) to diagnose, debug, and optimize integrations. This is a senior, hands-on technical consulting role, ideal for engineers who thrive in complex, customer-embedded environments where every deployment directly impacts thousands of small businesses.

What you’ll work on:

• Partner integrations: Design, implement, and maintain integrations between R2’s platform and partner APIs, data pipelines, and backend systems.
• Data-driven deployments: Gain controlled access to live partner data to identify edge cases, optimize decisioning models, and ensure data integrity and compliance.
• Rapid prototyping: Translate customer needs into working software by building and deploying lightweight APIs, ETL jobs, or infrastructure changes.
• Problem ownership: Act as the technical point of contact for new deployments — debugging systems, monitoring performance, and resolving production issues.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and backend engineers to tailor our systems to each partner’s unique context.
• Operational excellence: Create deployment playbooks, data access protocols, and documentation to scale secure and efficient integrations across the region.

Who you are:

• 6-8+ years of experience in backend, infrastructure, or data engineering, ideally in fintech or SaaS integrations.
• Deep experience with coding languages such as: Python, Go, Node.js, RESTful APIs, and SQL.
• Strong understanding of data systems, access control, and secure data handling (experience with GCP, AWS, or Snowflake is a plus).
• Proven ability to work directly with external engineering teams, translating business and technical needs into robust integrations.
• Comfortable debugging production systems and working with sensitive data under strict compliance constraints.
• A self-starter who enjoys autonomy, thrives in ambiguous environments, and takes full ownership of mission-critical outcomes.
• Passionate about financial inclusion and technology’s ability to reshape access to capital in Latin America.

• Experience with financial APIs, underwriting systems, or risk infrastructure.
• Familiarity with data modeling, ETL, or event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub).
• Fluency in Spanish and English for seamless collaboration with partners across Latin America.
• Exposure to customer-embedded roles at technology firms (Palantir, Stripe, or API-based startups).
