A global chemical solutions provider in Santiago, Chile, is seeking a Field Service Technician. The role involves ensuring customer satisfaction through effective application management of chemical solutions and compliance with environmental standards. Candidates should have a degree in engineering, at least two years of experience in the paper industry, and strong technical skills along with the ability to maintain customer relationships. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential, and basic knowledge of Portuguese and English is preferred.

In this role you will be responsible for:

The Application Technician will support the Pulp segment by ensuring the effective application and management of Kemira’s chemical solutions for CMPC Pulp in Chile. This position is responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction, ensuring high-quality product performance, and contributing to the safety and environmental standards of Kemira and its customers.

Main Accountability and Responsibilities:

  • EHSQ Compliance: Adhere to and promote Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality (EHSQ) requirements, ensuring work complies with safety, occupational health, and environmental regulations.
  • Laboratory Support: Perform laboratory activities to assist in product selection, support the Sales team in business development, and coordinate product applications at the customer's site.
  • Industrial Testing: Monitor industrial tests, organize field equipment, and ensure the proper execution of product applications.
  • Customer Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, providing technical support and ensuring their requirements are met effectively.
  • Process Monitoring: Track and report on the performance of retention processes, demand control, and product quality on paper machines, ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • Product and Inventory Management: Monitor product inventories at customer locations and manage the supply chain to prevent any shortages.
  • Inspections: Conduct regular inspections in the operational area, report anomalies, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Reporting: Create detailed process monitoring and performance reports for customers and internal teams.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Ensure the preventive and corrective maintenance of Kemira’s equipment to avoid disruptions in the customer’s production process.
  • Field Analysis: Conduct laboratory analyses (pH, ionic demand, conductivity, turbidity, etc.) to maintain the quality of products and services.

Education, Skills and Working Experience required:

  • Education: Engineer/Technologist in Chemical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Automation fields.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in the paper industry or similar sectors.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, proactivity, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic Portuguese and English knowledge is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP Mobility or other relevant tools.
