Job summary

The International School Nido de Aguilas invites applications for Elementary School Counselor and Middle School Counselor positions for the 2027–2028 school year. Up to two positions are available; the roles are full-time and report to the Elementary or Middle School Principal.

Qualifications

• Certification in Psychology/Counseling.
• Counseling experience, preferably in international schools.
• Cross cultural experience and understanding.
• Developmental understanding and experience with Elementary or Middle school students.
• Experience designing for and implementing Social-Emotional Learning programs.
• Bilingual Spanish-English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, implement and evaluate the comprehensive school counseling program.
• Organize preventive social and emotional learning programs for students and families.
• Help teachers integrate social-emotional curriculum into academics.
• Coordinate individual or small group counseling as needed.
• Observe student interactions and build supportive relationships.
• Manage a caseload for Elementary or Middle School students.
• Collaborate with teachers on strategies to support student needs.
• Provide in-service professional learning for staff and families on SEL.
• Support Admissions and transition for new/withdrawn students.
• Coordinate referrals to specialists and outside professionals.
• Assist in crisis management planning and safeguarding protocols.
• Provide short-term counseling for personal/family issues.
• Participate in pre-referral and referral processes for students.
• Participate in School and Community Life Committee.
• Participate in safeguarding committees.
• Maintain clear, organized records in school systems.
