Upwork is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and automation systems that support cloud cost visibility, attribution, and performance insights.

The role involves handling large-scale telemetry, usage, and financial data to inform cost-aware decisions across Product, Engineering, and Finance. key tools include AWS Glue, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Dagster, and Terraform.

Formación

• Strong data engineering foundation with end-to-end ELT/ETL experience in cloud environments.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data processing and automation.
• Experience with data workflow/orchestration tools (dbt, Airflow, Dagster).
• Hands-on AWS data ecosystem experience and Snowflake expertise.
• Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Ability to build/maintain REST API integrations and ensure data quality.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and maintain end-to-end ELT/ETL pipelines in cloud environments.
• Develop scalable datasets for cost visibility, usage analysis, and performance insights.
• Model data and ingestion frameworks for large-scale telemetry and usage data.
• Create automation/tools to enable cost-aware decision-making.
• Optimize pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Tune queries and optimize storage/compute strategies.
• Integrate REST APIs and other data sources.
• Implement CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
• Ensure data quality, validation, and auditability across workflows.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production pipeline issues.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Finance on cloud cost optimization.
