Energyx is seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy and operations in Santiago, Chile. You will report to the CEO and drive budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to support growth in the energy sector.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of progressive financial leadership, energy sector experience, and a proven record in building high-performing teams, managing risk, and engaging with stakeholders and investors.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (or related field).
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive financial management experience.
  • Experience in the energy sector or related industry is a plus.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead the financial planning and analysis process to support strategic decisions.
  • Oversee budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting for accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with long-term objectives, focusing on profitability and growth.

  • Collaborate with other departments to assess financial implications of business decisions.

Chief Financial Officer at Energyx

About the role: Energyx is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations and strategy. This pivotal role will be based in Las Condes, Santiago, and will report directly to the CEO. The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company, ensuring robust financial health, and driving strategic initiatives to support our growth in the energy sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in finance, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the energy industry.

What you'll do
  • Lead the financial planning and analysis process, providing insights and recommendations to the executive team to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Oversee the preparation and management of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's long‑term objectives, focusing on profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Manage cash flow and working capital, ensuring the company maintains adequate liquidity to meet operational needs and investment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to assess financial implications of business decisions and drive cross‑functional initiatives that enhance financial performance.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with investors, banks, and other financial institutions to secure funding and manage financial risks.
  • Lead the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement in financial operations.
  • Monitor industry trends and economic conditions to identify potential risks and opportunities for the company, adapting financial strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, implementing internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the board of directors and stakeholders, articulating financial performance and strategic direction.
  • Drive the adoption of financial technologies and tools to enhance reporting efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Mentor and develop finance staff, promoting professional growth and ensuring a high level of expertise within the team.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; an MBA or CPA is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in the energy sector or a related industry, with a strong understanding of financial regulations and market dynamics.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with a track record of building and managing high‑performing finance teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, with a strong understanding of financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and investor relations is a plus.
  • A strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem‑solving and risk management.

  • Familiarity with sustainability and renewable energy financing.
  • Experience in international finance and cross‑border transactions.
  • Knowledge of advanced financial technologies, such as blockchain and AI in finance.
  • Previous experience in a publicly traded company or preparing for an IPO.
