Fitch Ratings, based in Santiago, Chile, seeks a Compliance Associate Director for LATAM to oversee regulatory matters and coordinate interactions with regulators. The role collaborates across departments to ensure adherence to local regulations and internal policies, reporting to the Compliance Director in Bogotá, Colombia.

Ideal candidate will be proactive, discreet, and able to manage multiple priorities in a highly regulated financial services environment.

Formación

  • University degree or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent drafting and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities in regulatory contexts.
  • Ability to learn evolving regulations and work with regulators.
  • Experience with regulatory agencies and inspections in financial services preferred.
  • Experience in regulated financial services is an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet regulatory deadlines.
  • Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance systems is an advantage.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English; Portuguese is a plus; based in Santiago, Chile.

Fitch Ratings – Compliance Associate Director, Latin America – Santiago, Chile

The LATAM Compliance team at Fitch Ratings is responsible for managing interactions with regulators across Latin America, including supervisory inspections and examinations. The team ensures compliance with applicable credit rating agency regulations, fulfills regulatory reporting obligations, reviews Fitch Ratings’ policies and procedures to address regulatory requirements, and handles conduct-related internal investigations and complaints. The Compliance Associate Director – Latin America will report to the Compliance Director based in Bogotá, Colombia. The successful candidate will support efforts to enhance compliance processes across Latin America, aligning with global strategies and collaborating with various departments to ensure adherence to local regulations and internal policies. This individual will serve as a key point of contact for compliance matters affecting operations in the region and will help coordinate interactions with regulators and global projects within Fitch Ratings’ Global Compliance team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with regulators and internal stakeholders across multiple functions and jurisdictions, providing broad exposure to compliance activities in a complex and highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support regulatory compliance matters across Latin America, including fulfillment of regulatory reporting obligations, and collaborate with team members on regional and global compliance issues.
  • Help manage relationships with regulators, including coordinating responses to supervisory inspections, examinations, and ad hoc information requests.
  • Assist in ensuring regional operations comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and differences across jurisdictions, and report relevant findings to the regional Head of Compliance and senior management.
  • Develop a strong understanding of applicable regulatory frameworks and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the collection and internal dissemination of data required for regulatory reporting, including use of internal governance, risk, and compliance systems.
  • Support processes designed to ensure the organization meets its ongoing regulatory reporting obligations in the region and assist in responding to ad hoc regulatory requests.
  • Facilitate and support regulatory examinations and inspections, including attending meetings, managing documentation, and drafting responses to regulators.
  • Contribute to responses to regulatory findings, including tracking and monitoring remediation efforts and recommendations.
  • Participate in reviews of policies and procedures and contribute to departmental initiatives across all areas of compliance.
  • Support conduct-related reviews, internal investigations, and other compliance-related matters, as needed.
Position Requirements

This role is ideal for a dynamic, discreet, and professional individual with experience in the financial services sector, particularly in compliance, regulatory matters, or other roles within a highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, self-reliant, and able to exercise sound judgment, including escalating issues appropriately when necessary.

Essential Qualifications Include

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess issues and present findings clearly to stakeholders.

  • Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and supporting inspections/examinations in a financial services environment is preferred.
  • Experience in a regulated financial services business is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines imposed by regulators and internal stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance systems is an advantage.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English, written and spoken, is required.
  • Portuguese is a plus.
  • Based in Santiago, Chile.
