We are a dynamic and growing institute and would like to extend our team by an enthusiastic pathologist who enjoys working in a vibrant and rapidly developing academic setting. Assignment of duties is expected to be appr. 70% service and teaching and 30% research activity but are flexible, depending upon the candidate’s interests and qualifications. We are currently extending our necropsy service in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Office for Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine and our Ruminant and Porcine clinics and are developing strategies to foster veterinary diagnostic work and research in farm animal pathology. Our biopsy service is internationally recognized for its expertise in dermatopathology and the successful candidate will contribute to this high level of diagnostic work. Teaching encompasses supervision of pathology residents and veterinary students during their rotations in our diagnostic services plus classroom teaching in the veterinary curriculum.

The ITPA has a strong focus on research and we expect that the successful candidate integrates into one of the existing research groups working on therapy escape or host-pathogen interaction at our institute. Candidates are encouraged to check our research group portfolios on our webpage (http://www.itpa.vetsuisse.unibe.ch).

This position is a full-time, 6 years, non-tenure-track appointment and is available from November 1, 2017. The University of Bern offers internationally competitive and attractive salaries which are commensurate with experience and qualifications. We encourage experienced pathologists as well as young pathologists who have recently completed their training to apply. Experienced mentors will support younger candidates in developing their academic career.
