Job summary

UBS in Switzerland is seeking an IT Engineer to operate and develop our on‑premises data center platforms, focusing on compute, storage and backup environments. You’ll collaborate with container, virtualization and application teams to optimize infrastructure and enable high availability for business workloads.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in data center engineering, hands-on experience with bare‑metal platforms (UCS‑X), enterprise storage (NetApp/IBM), backup (Commvault) and infrastructure

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, business informatics or comparable higher education with relevant infrastructure/cloud training.
• 3–5 years hands-on IT engineering experience in data center environments (compute, storage, backup).
• Solid knowledge of bare-metal platforms (UCS‑X or similar), storage (NetApp/IBM) and backup (Commvault).
• Experience with virtualization and container platforms, and infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform).
• Strong ownership, quality mindset and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Fluency in German and good English, written and spoken.

• Design and optimize enterprise storage and backup environments for high availability and performance.

• Maintain and improve data center documentation, standards, monitoring, and security.
• Plan and deliver infrastructure projects in an agile setup with stakeholder communication.

The team

You’ll join our Data Center & Infrastructure team in the IT organization and help shape the next generation of our on‑premises and hybrid infrastructure.

Together with specialists for compute, storage, backup, networking and automation, you’ll build and run a robust, scalable and secure foundation for our business applications and container platforms.

Your Skills And Experience

• Degree in computer science, business informatics or comparable higher education (university or university of applied sciences), plus relevant further training in infrastructure or cloud technologies
• Three to five years of hands‑on experience as an IT engineer in data center environments (compute, storage, backup, data center management) in a production setting
• Solid knowledge of bare‑metal platforms (for example UCS‑X or similar), enterprise storage (NetApp, IBM or other) and backup solutions (Commvault or comparable), plus a good understanding of virtualization and container platforms
• Practical experience with infrastructure automation (for example Ansible, Terraform or similar) and agile ways of working (Scrum, Kanban or scaled agile frameworks)
• Very good communication skills, a strong sense of ownership and quality, and the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders
• Fluency in German and a good command of English, both written and spoken
