Job summary

Prepared International (PPI) invites two interns to join remotely and support global DRR and policy-related challenges. The internship is remunerated with a stipend and starts on 1 January 2027 for six months, offering strong learning elements.

Interns will work on emergency preparedness and response (EP&R) initiatives in the ECCAS region of Africa, with possible cross-border travel. English is essential; French and Spanish are desirable.

Qualifications

  • Background in DRR, emergency management, humanitarian aid, development cooperation, CCA, resilience-building or similar related field.
  • Bachelor's degree finalized in one of the related fields preferred.
  • Previous experience with proposal drafting and writing is advantageous.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills; strong English language skills are essential; French and Spanish desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support, for example, a project related to emergency preparedness and response (EP&R).
  • Contribute to DRM/CCA initiatives in the ECCAS region of Africa with cross-border elements.
  • Engage in proposal design and writing activities and travel as needed.

Prepared International (PPI) is an expert consultancy thatspecializesinresearchandcapacity building services in the field of disaster risk reduction (DRR), preparedness and resilience, climate change adaptation (CCA) and emergency management. The experts at PPI work together to inform political decision-making while providing effective capacity-building strategies in the long term. Our team of top tier international and local experts works towards applying lessons gathered at the forefront while developing and implementing new concepts and tools, such as the development and implementation of the mission methodology for Mass Evacuationsin Natural Disasters (MEND) preparedness missions, or the application of the stress-test methodology.

Weseektwointernstojoinourteamremotelytosupportoureffortsinaddressing global DRR and policy-related challenges. The internship is remunerated with a stipend. The Internship will begin from 1 January2027for aduration of six monthsand will provide strong learning elements.

Among your tasks will be to support, for example, a project related to the development of emergency preparedness and response (EP&R) in the ECCAS region of Africa, with cross-border elements. In addition, the incumbent will work on topics related to high-impact, low-probability(HILP)events.Topicsoftheinternship willvaryandbediscussed,accordingtothe incumbents’ thematic interests. Given that the Intern will support international projects related to DRM and CCA, the internship might entail travelling as part of a project-related mission. In case travel leads to places outside of the EU, PPI will cover additional insurances and vaccinations as needed.
