Sigma Suisse is seeking a Senior Trading Systems Engineer to strengthen its Trading Applications team in Basel. You will work at the intersection of trading applications, market connectivity and infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on FIX connectivity and secure network protocols.

The role requires banking experience, hands-on FIX expertise, and a solid understanding of trading processes across equities, fixed income, FX and derivatives. Onsite presence in Canton Basel is expected.

Qualifikationen

• Banking environment experience is mandatory.
• Strong hands-on experience with FIX Protocol and FIX interfaces.
• Experience with trading applications, electronic trading or market connectivity.
• Good understanding of trading processes and financial instruments (Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Derivatives).
• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, TLS and encryption in a Windows environment.
• Experience in application configuration, integration, troubleshooting and technical support.
• Around 5 years of relevant professional experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience considered.

Within our IT recruitment activities, we are supporting a financial institution based in Canton Basel in strengthening its Trading Applications team. To support the development, integration and operation of its trading environment, we are currently looking for a Senior Trading systems Engineer.

The position sits at the intersection of trading applications, market connectivity and technical infrastructure. It requires a strong understanding of banking and trading environments combined with hands‑on expertise in FIX connectivity.

Your Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Customize, configure and maintain FIX interfaces and connectivity
• Define and improve technical processes and workflows related to order routing, market access and trade processing
• Implement, configure and test new functionalities across trading applications and connected systems
• Troubleshoot application, interface and connectivity issues
• Support integrations between internal trading platforms and external brokers or market systems
• Analyse incidents and requirements together with trading users and other business stakeholders
• Handle technical topics related to TCP/IP connectivity, TLS and encryption
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, trading and external provider teams

Your Profile

For this position, we are looking for a profile matching the following criteria:

• Previous professional experience within a banking environment is mandatory
• Strong hands‑on experience with FIX Protocol and FIX interfaces
• Previous experience with trading applications, electronic trading or market connectivity
• Good understanding of trading processes and financial instruments such as Equities, Fixed Income, FX and/or Derivatives
• Good technical understanding of TCP/IP, TLS, encryption and Windows environments
• Experience in application configuration, integration, troubleshooting and technical support
• Around 5 years of relevant professional experience is preferred, although profiles with less experience and strong relevant expertise can be considered
• Higher education in Computer Science, Engineering, Natural Sciences or a related technical discipline
• Knowledge of Python is an advantage
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work autonomously
• Fluent English is required; German is an advantage
• Willingness to work fully onsite in Canton Basel
