Organizational context: The Department of Science for Health aims to strengthen WHO and Member States' capacity to leverage science and innovation for global health improvement. The Research and Ethics Ecosystem Strengthening (REE) Unit focuses on enhancing research governance, ethical oversight, and institutional research capacities. This role supports the Global Focal Point for WHO Collaborating Centres within this unit.

Job purpose: This role provides crucial technical and program management support to the Global Focal Point for WHO Collaborating Centres. The primary purpose is to coordinate, monitor, and implement initiatives for the WHO Collaborating Centre network. This involves strengthening these networks across technical programs, regional offices, and external institutions, fostering collaboration, and ensuring alignment with WHO's strategic objectives. The position also contributes to developing innovative partnership approaches and evaluating global/regional meetings to enhance technical collaboration and capacity building within the network.

Responsibilities: Provide technical and program management support for the WHO Collaborating Centres network, including coordination and implementation of initiatives. Strengthen and coordinate networks of Collaborating Centres across WHO programs, regions, and external institutions, fostering collaboration and alignment with WHO priorities. Develop and implement innovative partnership approaches, such as regional and thematic networks and twinning arrangements. Plan, coordinate, and evaluate global and regional meetings and consultations, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement. Analyze and synthesize information related to Collaborating Centres, preparing technical reports, briefing notes, and other knowledge products. Provide technical guidance and quality assurance for the designation, redesignation, and monitoring of Collaborating Centres, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Identify and recommend improvements to governance processes, digital platforms, and monitoring systems. Lead the collection, analysis, and reporting of Collaborating Centre contributions to GPW14 objectives. Contribute to the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of governing body resolutions and strategic initiatives.

Education: Essential: First-level university degree in public health, political science, social sciences, international relations, communications, public administration, organizational management, management studies, business administration, or a related field. Desirable: Advanced university degree in a relevant field.

Work experience: Essential: Minimum of five years of progressive professional experience in program management, governance, partnership coordination, institutional networking, stakeholder engagement, external relations, or implementation of international health initiatives, preferably in an international or multilateral setting. Desirable: Experience coordinating global/regional events or networks, and knowledge of WHO policies and procedures.

Skills: Excellent ability to coordinate technical partnerships, analyze complex information, prepare high-quality technical and strategic materials, manage workplans and stakeholder processes, and identify practical solutions for program delivery and institutional collaboration.
