Jobbeschreibung

About The Role

The NLP & AIMM Labs at EPFL are looking for a Teaching Program Coordinator to manage the operational backbone of their teaching portfolios. You will be the central point of coordination across three courses:

  • CS-552 Modern Natural Language Processing
  • CS-461 Foundation Models and Generative AI
  • and an upcoming bachelor's-level **AI-101** (launching in Fall 2027)

In this role, you will manage the execution of these courses during the semester in which they offered, as well as their preparation throughout the rest of the year. You will ensure teams are organized and assignments, exams, and project milestones are prepared, tested, and released on schedule.

Beyond these three courses, you will optionally also help coordinate broader teaching activities and logistics across AI-related faculty at EPFL, acting as a connecting point for shared resources, timelines, and best practices between courses and instructors.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
Course operations (CS-552, CS-461, AI-101)
  • Organize and manage the TA team for each course: recruitment support, onboarding, task allocation, and weekly coordination
  • Own the semester production calendar for assignments, midterms, and project milestones; ensuring each is drafted, tested, and released on time
  • Coordinate testing/QA of assignments and autograders before release, working directly with TAs and the course instructor
  • Manage course infrastructure (Moodle, autograding platforms, Ed forums, GitHub Classroom, etc.)
  • Track and triage student questions/issues during the semester, escalating to TAs or instructor as needed
  • Support exam logistics: room booking, proctoring schedules, grading coordination
Cross-course and cross-faculty coordination
  • Serve as a liaison between the NLP and AIMM Labs's courses and other AI-related courses/faculty at EPFL, surfacing opportunities to share materials, infrastructure, or TA capacity
  • Contribute to planning for the new AI-101 bachelor's course ahead of its Fall 2027 launch, including TA team build-out and initial infrastructure setup
  • Help standardize teaching operations practices (grading rubrics, release checklists, TA onboarding materials) across courses
  • Support broader teaching-related administrative tasks (scheduling, reporting, budget tracking for TA hours) as needed
Your profile
  • University degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field
  • Prior experience as a TA, head TA, or in course/program coordination, ideally in a technical or CS-related field
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple parallel timelines and stakeholders
  • Working familiarity with tools such as Moodle, GitHub/GitHub Classroom, and autograding systems (or willingness to learn quickly)
  • Some technical fluency in NLP/ML concepts is a strong plus, though this is not a research or teaching role
  • Fluent in English; French is an asset for interacting with EPFL's administration
  • Reliable, proactive, and comfortable working directly with faculty, PhD students, and undergraduate TAs
What We Offer
  • A role at the operational heart of EPFL's teaching activities in two of the most active NLP/AI labs in Switzerland
  • Direct exposure to state-of-the-art course content in NLP and foundation models
  • EPFL's standard employment conditions: flexible working hours, on-campus childcare and sports facilities, and a diverse international campus community
Information
  • Contract Start Date : to be agreed upon
  • Activity Rate : 80-100%
  • Duration : 1 year, renewable
  • Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (CDD)
