Job summary

Syngenta is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral computational chemist to join our Computational Chemistry group at the R&D site in Stein, Switzerland. You will apply computer-aided design and molecular modelling to drive innovative design of active ingredients and explore AI/ML approaches alongside traditional computational chemistry methods.

Qualifications

• PhD in computational chemistry or related field.
• Strong foundation in target- and ligand-based design.
• Proficiency with state-of-the-art computational chemistry/cheminformatics packages.
• Experience with computational workflows.
• Working knowledge of Python programming.
• Basic understanding of statistics and data analysis.
• Proficiency in both Windows and Unix operating systems, including batch/shell scripting and CLI automation.
• Demonstrated experience with High-Performance Computing (HPC) and distributed computing environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Support design of new active ingredients by using computational techniques that include data analysis and predictive modelling, molecular modelling, structure- and ligand-based design
• Work with chemists, computational chemists, biologists and other experts to devise strategies on how best to use data and provide design inputs to support chemical invention.
• Work with computational chemistry colleagues across R&D to drive technology development and promote the use of state-of-the-art methods.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of computational chemistry infrastructures, workflows and algorithm implementation.
