Job summary

Tedk12 is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to support students with disabilities in a classroom setting. Under the supervision of a certified teacher, you will assist with daily activities, safety, and behavior management, and help implement lesson plans while maintaining confidentiality.

The role involves supporting mobility, personal care, classroom organization, and collaboration with staff to ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and independence.

Qualifications

• An equivalent combination of experience and training provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions.
• Substitute certification, or willingness to obtain one with the district's assistance.
• Additional qualifications or alternatives as deemed appropriate by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities according to individualized needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning.
• Assist students with physical care including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
• Assist in managing the behavior of students.
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
• Maintain confidentiality of information about children and their families in accordance with Board policy and law.
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events as requested by administration.
• Help supervise arrival and departure of students to which he or she is assigned.
• Follow instructions from teachers and administrators.
• Assist the classroom teacher in arranging the learning environment and displays.
• Under supervision, prepare for classroom activities by distributing/collecting papers and materials.
• Assist students in completing assignments and projects, ensuring understanding of rules and procedures.
• Read to students, assist with reading abilities, math, spelling, and writing exercises.
• Assist with lesson plans implementation; administer tests; prepare mandated reports.
• Tutors individual or small groups, monitors drills and assignments, consults with teacher on lesson plans.
• Perform clerical duties: prepare, type, file instructional materials; maintain grades and attendance; manage lunch reports and student records.
• Operate and care for instructional equipment; prepare room for activities and return materials to storage.
• Supervise students during non-instructional times and assist with clothing, toilet routines, and lunch duties.
• Ensure health and safety and maintain a clean learning environment.
• Observe and control behavior; monitor outdoor activities; report progress to supervising teacher.
