VAT Group AG in Haag is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager for Raw Material & Surface Treatment to lead global sourcing strategies, partner with engineering and operations, and drive compliant, cost-aware supplier management.

You will manage direct material categories across regions, develop category strategies, optimize the supply base, monitor KPIs, and collaborate with the VAT organization to meet sustainability and performance goals.

Qualifikationen

• 5+ years of strategic and operational sourcing experience with a solid working knowledge of global category management.
• Experience sourcing in Eastern Europe, Asia and performing Best Cost Country and spend relocation activities.
• Knowledge of category sourcing markets.
• Cross-function/category team management experience (minimum functional level).
• Good communication skills in German and English (additional languages are a plus).

Strategic Sourcing Manager - Raw Material & Surface Treatment

Purpose of the role:

• Developing and executing global sourcing strategies for the assigned direct materials categories: Raw Material & Surface Treatment
• Acting as a business partner to key stakeholders in business (Business Units, Engineering, etc.) and Operations (Product Line Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Production, Materials Management, etc.)
• Supporting the Global Strategic Sourcing Operating Model by providing supply capability and capacity at best cost to meet the company’s future business needs and protect brand value
• Applying aligned sourcing processes, sustainable supplier assessments, and a development approach to establish a compliant supply base footprint, enhancing performance on Quality, Delivery, and Cost (QCD)
• Achieving measurable value greater than 3% in recurring and P&L effective cost reductions per year across the global third‑party spend in the assigned categories, supported by a leveraged and benchmarked supply base management
• Growing and further developing a qualified and performing Best Cost Country Supply Base in line with BCC objectives, preferably in Eastern Europe, and managing a sustainable spend allocation

Responsibilities

• Achieving category‑specific objectives of cost optimization, supply base optimization, geographic sourcing footprint and Best Cost Country sourcing
• Providing forward‑looking guidance on trends, threats and opportunities in own categories (e.g., raw materials)
• Actively contributing to the bottom‑up alignment of the Direct Materials Category Team with company objectives
• Interfacing with BU / Engineering for Strategic Sourcing activities along with the PDP (IP07) process
• Acting as a change agent for main stakeholders
• Developing category sourcing strategies and complying with defined methods and tools
• Managing supplier relationships of the global supply base within its own category perimeter in alignment with category teams in Switzerland, Malaysia and Romania
• Ensuring consistent application of all sourcing levers
• Contributing to main sourcing KPIs
• Assembling and leading category‑specific/cross‑functional sourcing board
• Monitoring and performing a supply base risk assessment across own categories
• Participating in continuous improvement of direct material practices

Qualifications

• 5+ years of strategic and operational sourcing experience with a solid working knowledge of global category management
• Demonstrated experience with category‑specific production techniques and processes
• Knowledge of category sourcing markets
• Proficiency in office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Experience sourcing in Eastern Europe, Asia and performing Best Cost Country and spend relocation activities
• Experience working within a global complex organization
• Experience in machine building, vacuum technology and semiconductors
• Cross‑function/category team management experience (minimum functional level)
• Strong communication skills with suppliers, colleagues, and internal stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills (risk‑based) and focus on essential facts
• Ability to achieve results through others, multi‑task, sense of priority, and handle stress levels
• Good communication skills in German and English (additional languages are a plus)
