Job summary

Ripple is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team in our Custody department. You will shape engineering practices, ensure reliability across a multi-cloud environment, and empower teams to deliver features quickly and safely.

You will drive automation, observability, and platform stability, mentor engineers, and contribute to internal tools and runbooks. This is a hybrid role with in-office collaboration and work on high-availability distributed systems used in

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, or distributed systems experience.
• Experience managing blockchain nodes with high availability and failover.
• Production experience in high-traffic, security-sensitive environments.
• Strong PostgreSQL experience.
• Proven IaC with Terraform or similar tools.
• Deep experience with containerized infrastructure and Kubernetes in HA environments.
• Proficiency in .NET, Go, Bash, or TypeScript.
• Experience with RabbitMQ or AMQP.
• Observability with OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Loki, Prometheus.
• GitOps with Argo CD or Flux.
• Experience with confidential computing platforms (AWS Nitro Enclaves, IBM Hyper Protect, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable, resilient infrastructure across multiple clouds.
• Lead architecture and reliability improvements for custody services.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and observability across distributed systems.
• Own and evolve blockchain node infrastructure with high availability.
• Build automation for provisioning, deployments, testing, and incident response.
• Drive deployment operations and release reliability for platform services.
• Identify bottlenecks and operational gaps before impact.
• Participate in on-call rotations and post-incident reviews.
• Contribute to internal platform tools and developer workflows.
• Create documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Mentor engineers on infrastructure and platform decisions.
