Job summary
CERN in Geneva invites a specialist to join a multidisciplinary team developing next-generation SRF cavities. You will lead chemical and electrochemical surface finishing, optimize polishing and plating processes, and help design and commission a dedicated surface-treatment facility.
The role requires strong electrochemistry knowledge, experience in modelling and process safety, and collaboration across engineers, physicists and external suppliers.
Qualifications
- Strong background in electrochemistry and corrosion.
- Field experience in modelling and optimising chemical/electrochemical treatment processes.
- Knowledge of chemical engineering unit operations and process safety.
- Familiarity with electrochemical characterisation techniques.
Responsibilities
- Develop, operate and optimise chemical and electrochemical surface-processing techniques for SRF cavities and components.
- Optimize processes by laboratory-scale trials and simulations to improve performance and repeatability.
- Define requirements and oversee design, procurement, testing and commissioning of new equipment for surface finishing.
- Develop, document and implement operating procedures and quality control methods for surface finishing.
