Flexion Robotics, based in Zürich, is scaling its autonomy stack for humanoid robotics. We are seeking a senior Software Engineer to advance production platforms, tooling and infrastructure powering AI, deployment and telemetry.
You will own end-to-end projects, influence architecture, and collaborate across research, robotics and deployment teams. The role emphasizes building scalable backend systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure and data tooling, with strong emphasis on testing, code quality,
At Flexion, we are building the autonomy stack for humanoid robots. Our mission is to spearhead the transition from fragile prototypes to real-world humanoid deployment. We are founded by leading scientists in robot reinforcement learning (ex-Nvidia, ex-ETH Zürich) and backed by leading international VC firms. In just months, we went from our first line of code to deploying real humanoid capabilities with our customers, leveraging simulation and reinforcement learning. Today, we are rapidly expanding the capabilities of our autonomy stack and are growing our customer base and team faster than ever.
As a Software Engineer in Flexion’s experienced infrastructure team you will build the platforms, tooling and infrastructure that power Flexion’s AI stack. This is a senior role with significant scope and ownership. You will work on a range of topics, taking projects from inception to completion, with collaboration and influence across the company. The infrastructure team owns Flexion’s state-of-the-art platforms, spanning in-house robotics frameworks for deployment, orchestration and networking, customer-facing applications, telemetry, SDKs, ML and data infrastructure, AI productivity tooling, and more. A core responsibility of this specific opening is to enable the growing scale and scope of our deployments by expanding our internal robot deployment tooling as well as our customer-facing tools and platforms.
Build out Flexion’s tooling and platforms for a fast-growing number of robots and real-world deployments, including the applications, APIs and SDKs that customers use to manage, monitor, and integrate with Flexion.
Lead projects end-to-end, from scoping and technical design through implementation, rollout, and long-term ownership.
Shape technical direction and architecture decisions across teams through design reviews and code reviews.
Partner with research, robotics, and deployment teams to understand their needs and translate them into reliable platforms and tools.
Raise the bar on engineering practices, including testing, code quality, documentation, and system reliability.
Help define and spread AI-assisted development practices across the company and contribute to Flexion’s AI development tooling.
Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering (or equivalent practical experience) plus significant professional software engineering experience.
Experience working at a senior scope: owning production software projects end-to-end and influencing technical decisions across teams. Strong track record of delivering complex projects with significant impact.
Proficiency in Python and significant experience with at least one compiled language (e.g., C++, Go, Rust).
Strong software architecture skills: designing modular, testable, maintainable systems with clean interfaces, considering performance and scalability. Solid grasp of data structures and algorithms.
Solid experience building and operating production backend systems: APIs, cloud infrastructure and databases.
Strong engineering practices and tooling: Git/GitHub, CI/CD, Docker, automated testing, code review, etc.
Substantial hands-on experience with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, etc.) Good judgement with respect to their limitations.
One or more of the following skills are a plus
Experience developing software for sophisticated hardware systems (e.g., robotics, AR/VR, drones, vehicles)
Understanding of networking and/or distributed systems concepts (e.g. pub/sub, message queues, distributed computing, etc.).
