Nexthink in Lausanne is seeking a hands-on software engineer to join the AI research team. You will build fast prototypes that test AI ideas and prove which ones can become products for Nexthink customers.

You don't need to be an AI researcher, but you should enjoy experimenting with AI tooling, mentoring peers, and designing scalable architectures that are easy to extend. This role offers a permanent contract, hybrid work, generous vacation, and relocation support, with a culture of innovation

Qualifikationen

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong foundation in software engineering, system design and architecture.
• Experience taking an idea from prototype to production.

• Strong interest in AI and experimentation with AI tooling or LLMs.

Job Description

We are looking for a hands‑on software engineer to join the AI research team at Nexthink. Your job is to build advanced prototypes that test whether an AI idea works, with enough value to put in front of real users, and to prove which ones are worthbecomingproductsfor Nexthink customers. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but you should be excited about the technology and keen to experiment and hack with it.

Engineering depth matters here: a prototype that meets real data and real users still has to be built well, and the design calls you make determine whether it can be productised later.We also expect you to be obsessed with the user: to imagine the whole journey andbuildthe smoothest possible experience, not just atechnicalcapability.The team works AI‑first by default, and you will work closely with product, engineering and leadership so clearand structured communicationis essential.

Main responsibilities:

As part of the AIresearchteam at Nexthink, you will:

• Build advanced prototypes of AI-powered capabilities:fast, and good enough to put in front of real users

• Build demos, run experiments and evaluations that show whether a capability works for our users and is worth pursuing

• Make the design and architecture calls that keep a prototype fast to change now and viable to productise later

• Experiment with new AI tools and techniques, share what you learn with the internal AI community, and raise the engineering bar through code review, pairing and mentoring

Qualifications

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of building and shipping real software

• Strong foundation in software engineering, system design and architecture, including enterprise-scale or distributed systems

• Proven experience taking an idea from prototype to something real that people actually used

• Hands‑on and code‑first, and comfortable with ambiguity and research‑driven work

• Obsessed with user experience: you think in user journeys, you have taste, and you can judge when something is good enough to put in front of a customer

• Strong interest in AI and a real willingness to experiment: you have built things with LLMs or AI tooling, at work or on your own time, and want to do more of it

• Comfortable taking technical ownership and mentoring less experienced engineers
