TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping basé à Genève recherche un Senior Trading Accountant pour prendre en charge des sujets comptables complexes liés aux activités de trading de gaz, LNG, électricité et dérivés. Le candidat idéal possède une forte expertise comptable, connaissance IFRS, et une expérience avérée en trading/ instruments financiers, avec une capacité à diriger

Qualifikationen

• Master ou diplôme équivalent en Comptabilité, Finance ou discipline associée.
• Expérience minimale de 5 années dans des postes pertinents.
• Expérience dans l’énergie, les matières premières ou le trading fortement valorisée.
• Des profils issus du Big Four ou cabinets similaires axés trading et instruments financiers encouragés.

Aufgaben

• Assurer une représentation comptable exacte des activités de trading sur le gaz, LNG, électricité, émissions et dérivés.
• Rapprocher les sorties des systèmes de trading avec les registres comptables et enquêter sur les écarts.
• Examiner les problèmes comptables complexes et coordonner leur résolution avec les équipes concernées.
• Analyser les soldes impayés, les impayés âgés, les accruals et les ajustements préalables.
• Conduire des projets ERP/ETRM et d’automatisation et piloter les améliorations.
• Servir de point de contact pour les auditeurs et assurer une résolution rapide des questions d’audit.

Contexte et environnement

TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping operates at the heart of international energy markets, bringing together trading activities across a broad range of energy commodities and financial products. Based in Geneva, you will join the Trading Accounting team supporting TotalEnergies Gas & Power activities, covering natural gas, LNG, power, emissions and derivatives. You will support a large and complex trading activity involving physical and financial transactions across multiple markets, counterparties and systems.

Trading Accounting plays a key role in ensuring that trading activities are accurately reflected in the financial statements and supported by robust accounting processes and controls. The team works closely with Trading Control, Middle Office, Back Office, Treasury, Risk Control, Tax, IT and Financial Reporting.

As Senior Trading Accountant, you will take ownership of complex accounting and control topics and act as a senior point of reference within the team. Beyond producing accurate financial information, you will be expected to understand the underlying trading activity, investigate issues across systems and processes, challenge existing ways of working and drive topics through to resolution.

The position combines trading accounting, analysis, controls, stakeholder management and continuous improvement, with a high level of autonomy and exposure across the organisation.

Activités

• Ensure the accurate accounting representation of trading activities across gas, LNG, power, emissions and derivatives.
• Reconcile trading system outputs with accounting records and investigate discrepancies across positions, deals, accruals, invoices and financial systems.
• Review complex accounting and operational issues, identify posting, valuation or process weaknesses, and coordinate their resolution with the relevant teams.
• Analyse outstanding balances, aged debt, accruals, prior-period adjustments and unresolved transactions.
• Perform root-cause analysis on recurring issues and work closely with Trading Control, Middle Office, Back Office and IT to implement sustainable solutions.
• Oversee key aspects of derivatives accounting, including exchange-traded futures, deliveries, realised results and variation margin.
• Manage intercompany P&L and balance sheet reconciliations and work with Group entities to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain and continuously enhance the internal control environment, including balance sheet and SOX controls.
• Act as a key contact for internal and external auditors on topics within your area of responsibility and ensure timely resolution of audit matters.
• Support the Trading Accounting Manager and progressively take ownership of delegated topics and responsibilities.
• Act as a senior point of reference for less experienced members of the team and contribute to their development.
• Lead or contribute to projects related to ERP and ETRM systems, reconciliation tools, reporting solutions and automation.
• Translate accounting and business requirements into system and process improvements, participate in testing and support implementation.
• Use data and digital tools to improve the efficiency, reliability and scalability of Trading Accounting processes.

Profil du candidat

You hold a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline and have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Previous experience within energy, commodities or trading would be highly valued. Candidates from Big Four or similar audit/advisory environments with strong exposure to trading, financial instruments or complex transactional businesses are also encouraged to apply.

You bring:

• Strong accounting expertise and a good understanding of how transactions flow through a trading organisation.
• Previous exposure to commodity trading and/or derivatives accounting.
• Good knowledge of IFRS and/or relevant statutory accounting requirements.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills, with the ability to investigate complex issues and understand their root causes.
• A high level of autonomy and the ability to take ownership of topics from identification through to resolution.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to interact with Trading, Finance, control functions, IT and auditors.
• Experience working with ERP and/or ETRM systems.
• Advanced Excel skills and a strong interest in data, digitalisation and process automation.
• Experience with Power Query, Power BI, SQL and/or Python would be a strong asset.
• Strong numerical and quantitative skills.
• A continuous improvement and project management mindset.
• Self-motivated, with a focus on enhancing processes, controls and operational efficiency.
• Full professional proficiency in English.
