Swisslinx AG seeks an experienced infrastructure engineer to operate and advance a large-scale bare-metal platform in Zürich. You will own the end-to-end management of around 130 physical servers, with a focus on reliability, performance and security across Linux, networking and storage.

The role emphasizes hands-on work with Kubernetes, Ceph and Bazel, and close collaboration with Software Engineering to shape architecture and operational practices on production systems.

Qualifikationen

• Several years of professional experience in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering or Systems Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with bare-metal / physical server infrastructure.
• Very good practical knowledge of Kubernetes in production environments.
• Experience with Ceph or comparable distributed storage technologies.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management.
• Good understanding of networking, storage, containerisation and distributed systems.
• High degree of ownership and ability to work independently at Senior or Staff level.
• Experience with Bazel is an advantage.
• Good command of English; German is an advantage but not required.

In this role, you will take responsibility for the operation and further development of a large-scale bare-metal infrastructure consisting of approximately 130 physical servers. The platform is built around technologies including Kubernetes, Ceph and Bazel.

This is a highly hands-on engineering position for someone who enjoys working close to the infrastructure layer and understands what happens underneath Kubernetes. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability and continued development of a business-critical platform.

Requirements

You are an experienced infrastructure or platform engineer who is comfortable operating complex production environments and working directly with physical infrastructure.

• Several years of professional experience in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering or Systems Engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with bare-metal / physical server infrastructure
• Very good practical knowledge of Kubernetes in production environments
• Experience with Ceph or comparable distributed storage technologies
• Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management
• Good understanding of networking, storage, containerisation and distributed systems
• A high degree of ownership and the ability to work independently at Senior or Staff level
• Experience with Bazel is an advantage
• Good command of English; German is an advantage but not required

This is not a typical cloud-only DevOps position.

You will work directly with physical infrastructure and across the complete technology stack - from servers, Linux, networking and storage through to Kubernetes and production workloads.

The role offers a high degree of technical ownership and the opportunity to influence how a complex infrastructure platform is operated and developed over the long term.
