You build robust software and want to shape the architecture of a growing platform, from the device in the field to the cloud? Join Cortexia.
Cortexia builds AI-based image analytics for cities and environmental service providers. Our cameras on municipal vehicles measure urban cleanliness and waste quality, and our ECOS platform turns that data into decisions. Our clients are cities and operators across Switzerland and Europe.
Your role
- Shape the end-to-end architecture of our system, from the Cortexia Box in the field to our Python backend, partner APIs and ECOS, and help make the key technical decisions together with the team.
- Design, build and maintain our backend services and APIs in Python, including the partner APIs that connect our platform to distribution and OEM partners.
- Develop and maintain the Python software running on the Cortexia Box, the on-vehicle unit that captures our data in the field and sends it to our platform.
- Contribute to ECOS, our Ruby on Rails web platform, and help shape its long-term technical direction.
- Ship features end to end, from talking with clients to deploying to production.
- Integrate partner systems and data pipelines.
- Help set technical standards for code quality, testing, security and scalability, and document architecture decisions so the team can build on them.
- Use modern tools, including AI coding assistants, where they make the team more effective, and share what works.
Your profile
- 5+ years of professional software development, with strong Python backend experience.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, or the willingness to learn it.
- Comfortable with SQL databases, REST APIs, Git, CI/CD and cloud hosting; Elasticsearch is a plus.
- Experience with software on edge or embedded Linux devices (e.g. cameras, sensors, mobile connectivity) is a plus.
- You take full ownership of your code, however it was written, and enjoy discussing design and architecture with your colleagues.
- You know your way around data protection and privacy issues in product implementations.
- Pragmatic, autonomous, and you enjoy working in a small team close to clients.
- You lead by example: you enjoy pairing, sharing what works and listening to colleagues’ concerns.
- Fluent in English; French and/or German are a plus.
What we offer
- Real impact in a growing Swiss tech company with a unique product.
- A small team where your voice counts in technical decisions.
- Flexible working arrangements and a direct, informal culture.
