Job summary

AECOM’s AI Engineering team invites a Senior Software Engineer to join the Zug-based on-site role in Switzerland. You will build production backend services and APIs, own full lifecycle delivery, and collaborate with ML engineers to deploy AI-driven infrastructure software that improves efficiency and sustainability.

You’ll design scalable systems, optimise performance, and contribute to deploy pipelines in a lean, startup-like team backed by a global engineering firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Strong hands-on Python programming skills and production backend experience
• Demonstrated ownership of technically challenging production systems
• Strong system design and engineering judgement for architecture and data models
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a lean team
• Sound software development practices including automated testing and version control/CI/CD

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services, APIs and data flows; evolve system architecture
• Own substantial work from problem definition to deployment and production support
• Collaborate with ML engineers and product teams to turn research into production-ready tools
• Integrate models into products, build deployment/monitoring capabilities, optimise AI workloads
• Provide reliable production delivery and troubleshoot complex issues
