Job summary

Roche is seeking a Senior Scientist in Process Chemistry & Catalysis to design scalable, safe, and cost-effective drug substance processes. You will optimize transition metal catalysis and organic synthesis routes, driving innovation and regulatory support while mentoring junior scientists.

Qualifications

• PhD in organometallic chemistry or homogeneous catalysis; postdoc experience is preferred.
• 5+ years of chemical process R&D in the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
• Proven track record in transition metal catalysis, catalyst synthesis, and scaling up catalytic processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement catalytic reactions into scalable, safe, sustainable, cost-effective processes.
• Engineer catalyst structures to improve yield, selectivity, cost, sustainability.
• Ensure SHE compliance and document results per internal regulations.
• Engage with internal stakeholders across R&D, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality; collaborate with metal catalysis groups.
• Author scientific reports, publications, and patent applications.
• Support training and supervision of associate scientists and interns.
