Job summary

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) invites applications for a Senior Researcher in Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence, based at IDSIA USI-SUPSI in Lugano. The appointment is 50% and starts 01.01.2027 or an agreed date.

The successful candidate will pursue an independent research program in imprecise probabilities, probabilistic circuits, graphical models, and AI, collaborating with industry partners. Excellent English and Italian are expected.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, or other quantitative fields.
• Strong background in probabilistic machine learning and AI.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and R.
• Strong publication record in ML/AI venues.
• Experience with grant acquisition and project participation.
• Experience supervising bachelor, master, and PhD candidates.

Responsibilities

• Pursue independent research in imprecise probabilities, probabilistic circuits, graphical models, and AI.
• Collaborate with industry partners on R&D projects.
• Co-supervise scientific personnel.
• Lead research projects and develop proposals for grants.
• Publish conference and journal papers and internal reports.
• Present work to conferences and partner meetings.
