Zusammenfassung

Euler Hermes Re, the reinsurance arm of Allianz Trade, seeks a Senior Reinsurance Underwriter in Zurich to develop third‑party reinsurance in Trade Credit, Surety, and Specialty lines. You will own underwriting, originate new external business, and help build a diversified portfolio with data‑driven insights.

The role reports to the Chief Underwriting Officer and requires 10–15+ years in reinsurance underwriting, strong third‑party experience, and an international, English‑fluently profile.

Qualifikationen

• University degree in Finance, Economics, Insurance, Actuarial Science, or related field.

• Identify, evaluate, and secure new third‑party reinsurance opportunities with cedants outside the Allianz Trade ecosystem.
• Assess, price, and structure proportional and excess‑of‑loss treaty programs for Trade Credit, Surety, and Specialty risks.
• Contribute to defining the strategic roadmap, risk appetite, and underwriting guidelines for the third‑party book of business.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with cedants, brokers, and market intermediaries.
• Structure reinsurance solutions tailored to cedants' needs (capacity, capital and advisory).
• Monitor portfolio performance, conduct regular reviews, and recommend corrective actions.
• Stay abreast of market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments in the Trade Credit & Surety reinsurance space.
• Work closely with Actuarial, Risk, Finance, Claims, and Allianz Re teams; contribute to governance and underwriting standards for third‑party business.

The role

We are seeking a Senior Reinsurance Underwriter to strengthen the development of this new third‑party reinsurance portfolio in Trade Credit, Surety, and Specialty Credit lines of business. The role combines business origination, underwriting ownership, and strategic portfolio build‑up in Trade Credit and Surety reinsurance. The successful candidate will play a key role in positioning Euler Hermes Re as a trusted partner for external cedants, leveraging its strong capacity, data‑driven insights, and underwriting expertise.

Main tasks

• Business Development: Identify, evaluate, and secure new third‑party reinsurance opportunities with cedants (insurers and reinsurers) outside the Allianz Trade ecosystem
• Underwriting: Assess, price, and structure proportional and excess‑of‑loss treaty programs for Trade Credit, Surety, and Specialty risks. Ensure disciplined underwriting in line with profitability and risk appetite.
• Strategy: Contribute to defining the strategic roadmap, risk appetite, and underwriting guidelines for the third‑party book of business.
• Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with cedants, brokers, and market intermediaries. Position Euler Hermes Re as a reliable reinsurance partner offering strong capacity and expertise.
• Advisory & Value‑Added Services: Structure reinsurance solutions tailored to cedants‑ needs (capacity, capital, and advisory). Leverage internal tools (e.g., risk scoring, proprietary models) to enhance decision‑making
• Portfolio Management: Monitor portfolio performance, conduct regular reviews, and recommend corrective actions where needed
• Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments in the Trade Credit & Surety reinsurance space
• Collaboration: Work closely with Actuarial, Risk, Finance, Claims, and Allianz Re teams. Contribute to the development of processes, governance, and underwriting standards for third‑party business

Profile

• Education:
  • University degree in Finance, Economics, Insurance, Actuarial Science, or related field
• Experience:
  • 10-15+ years in reinsurance underwriting
  • Strong expertise in Trade Credit and/or Surety (essential)
  • Proven track record in external / third‑party business
  • Solid experience in treaty underwriting (proportional & non‑proportional)
  • Demonstrated experience in business development and building a reinsurance portfolio
• Technical Expertise:
  • Strong underwriting of trade credit and surety exposures and risk assessment capabilities
  • Excellent understanding of reinsurance structuring, pricing, and capital considerations
  • Ability to combine data‑driven analysis with expert judgment
• Market & Commercial Skills:
  • Established network across brokers and cedants
  • Strong origination and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build a sustainable and diversified portfolio in a competitive market
• Personal Attributes:
