Job summary

Axpo in Switzerland seeks an experienced power trader to own a trading book, manage positions from spot to Y+4, and develop strategies across European markets including TTF, CO2, and API2. You will work with Sales and Origination to price client flows and contribute to team market views.

We value independent decision-making, a strong own-book track record, and fluency in English; additional languages are a plus. A hybrid setup with up to 50% remote work supports work-life balance.

Qualifications

• University or technical college degree required.
• 5+ years of professional power trading with a demonstrable own-book track record.
• Strong knowledge of continental electricity and global commodity markets.
• Proven skills in quantitative analysis and ML techniques.
• Fluent in English; German/French/Italian a plus.

• Own and run an individually-accountable trading book with full risk and P&L responsibility.
• Develop and manage positions from spot to Y+4 across Europe.
• Design and implement trading strategies, including systematic and ML approaches.
• Maximize value of power plant flexibility and production value within Core Market Trading.
• Provide client flow pricing and structured offerings in collaboration with Sales and Origination.
• Mentor junior traders and analysts and contribute to team market views.

What you will do:

• Own and run an individually-accountable trading book, taking full responsibility for its risk and P&L
• Develop and manage positions from spot markets to Y+4, mainly across Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, and Austria, as well as fuel markets such as TTF, CO2, and API2
• Independently design and implement trading strategies, from fundamentals-driven approaches to systematic and algorithmic methods, including machine learning
• Maximize the value of power plant flexibility and generate value from production within Core Market Trading
• Provide client flow pricing and structured offerings in close collaboration with Sales and Origination
• Contribute to and challenge the team's collective market views, and mentor junior traders and analysts

What you bring & who you are:

• A university or technical college degree, along with at least 5 years of professional power trading experience and a demonstrable own-book track record
• Strong knowledge of continental electricity markets and global commodity markets
• Skills in quantitative analysis, ideally including machine learning and modern algorithmic techniques
• A confident, independent decision-maker who stays composed under pressure and enjoys collaborative exchange with peers
• Fluent in English; German, French, or Italian are a plus
