Job summary

Julius Baer in Zurich seeks a senior professional to lead independent quality assurance for key non-financial risk controls. You will guide internal control frameworks, support international locations, and drive FINMA-aligned QA enhancements.

The role requires a university degree in economics/finance, 5–8 years in private banking risk/audit, and strong leadership with English proficiency.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in economics, business administration, or finance.
• Min 5-8 years professional experience in the private banking business, preferably in Audit, Compliance, Risk or Control functions or with a management consulting firm with focus on Financial Risk and/or Non Financial Risk topics.
• Strong management and leadership skills in private banking.
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent quality assurance (design and operative effectiveness assessment) of key controls for all non-financial risk types.
• Identify internal control weaknesses and recommending areas for process and control improvements.
• Provide guidance on the Internal Control Framework and tools to the international locations for the implementation of the relevant local key controls and the reporting of the control results.
• Development and enhancement of the quality assurance framework in line with regulatory FINMA requirements.
• Lead meetings with Senior Management and various stakeholders across the divisions and international locations.

The Consolidated Supervision team is part of the Non-Financial Risk Control department based in Zurich and oversees the implementation of the Global Minimum Standards and Global Minimum Controls in Switzerland as well as in all international locations. The team is responsible for the Group Policy Management Framework and the Group Internal Control Framework. The team acts as the centre of competence for global policies and internal controls and provides support to the international locations in the implementation of their local frameworks. The team also acts as the independent responsible unit to conduct quality assurance across Group locations and risk types, to verify that the Group standards and controls have been properly implemented and adhered to.

YOUR CHALLENGE

• Lead function for independent quality assurance (design and operative effectiveness assessment) of key controls for all non-financial risk types
• Identify internal control weaknesses and recommending areas for process and control improvements
• Provide guidance on the Internal Control Framework and tools to the international locations for the implementation of the relevant local key controls and the reporting of the control results

YOUR PROFILE

• University degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in economics, business administration, or finance
• Min 5-8 years professional experience in the private banking business, preferably in Audit, Compliance, Risk or Control functions or with a management consulting firm with focus on Financial Risk (Credit / Market Regulations/ Market Abuse / Treasury) and/or Non Financial Risk (Cyber Security, AML | FCC, Model Validation) topics
• Sound management and leadership skills in private banking
• Strong organisational, team building and interpersonal skills
• Senior personality with easy access to senior management, high empathy, charisma and managerial courage
• Drive for results and ability to set priorities, to coordinate processes, to meet tight deadlines and to reprioritise tasks if needed
• Outstanding analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
• Proficient user in MS Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint; experience with JIRA
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English.
• Fluency in German, French, or any further language is an advantage
