Job summary

AMAC Aerospace Group seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for advanced design in Basel. You will drive engineering activities for new VIP aircraft projects, translating customer specs into engineering inputs and conducting predictive analyses on loads and weight.

The role requires a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, 5+ years in VIP aviation, and strong English communication. French/German is advantageous; relocation support is possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in mechanical or aeronautical engineering.
• Strong grasp of physics, mechanics, aerospace materials and certification requirements for VIP aviation.
• Excellent written and verbal English; French and/or German a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering activities for new VIP aviation projects.

Job Description

Your daily tasks & responsibilities:

• Active preparation of Engineering activities for new projects
• Translate Customer specifications / PM technical specification / Interior Design packages to Engineering input (layouts, specifications, lists, etc.)
• Conduct predictive analysis (water consumption, weight and balance, aircraft loading, electrical loading, etc.)
• Support Sales and Interior Design with technical topics in the early phase of a project
• Prepare technical content for presentation for customer meetings
• Check feasibility of customer / designer requests
• Define long-lead items, request quotations, and place orders.
• Identify project risk items / novelties that require development at an early stage
• Initiate development of novelty items (internally or with third parties)
• Participate in establishing budgets for new projects or change orders (quotation activity)
• Support continuous improvement and innovation
• Develop new processes, technical instruction, etc.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering or relevant field
• Profound knowledge of fundamental physics, technical mechanics, aerospace technology & materials, electrical & mechanical systems and certification requirements in VIP Aviation
• More than 5 years of experience in VIP Aviation / Aerospace Engineering
• Proactive behaviour with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English – additionally French and/or German is advantageous
• Ability to work independently
• Accurate and strong attention to detail and safety
• Ideally aerospace engineering background, alternatively automotive / transportation experience
