Beyond Gravity inZurich, Switzerland is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead MAIT activities, improve production processes and drive automation. You will coordinate with project teams, support manufacturability reviews and manage tooling, layouts and flow concepts for complex space programs.

Requirements include a mechanical engineering degree and 7–10+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience, with strong leadership, SAP/MES familiarity and a customer-focused mindset.

Qualifikationen

• 7–10+ years hands-on engineering experience in a complex manufacturing setting, ideally in Space/Aerospace.
• Hands-on mentality with strong leadership and communication skills.

From one-off ESA science projects to state-of-the-art serial production for satellite constellations, there is a wide range of challenging tasks waiting for you.

Your Mission

• Plans, coordinates and reviews project work in Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration & Testing (MAIT)
• Is the MAIT I/F to project management: He/she regularly updates and reports the manufacturing status to the project manager and the project team
• The integration and alignment concept and associated tooling development is under your responsibility
• Supports Design wrt. Manufacturability and design-to-cost (e.g. attends regular reviews with system engineer, design, procurement and suppliers during design phase, checks internal manufacturability together with the assembly & test technicians)
• Performs manufacturability reviews (tolerances, surface treatments, etc.) of the manufacturing documents (part drawings, assembly drawings, bill of material)
• Supports system engineering wrt verification
• Estimates the required production time and ressources for initial models and non-recurring activities
• Provides and commissions J&T and hands them over to the production team
• Ensures product quality, e.g. through respective production regulation, inspections and procedures
• Is document owner of the MAIT-Plan (including flows and layouts) and assembly procedures
• Drives trouble shooting within production. Is the first point of contact for the Assembly & Test Technicians
• Continuously improves process capability, quality and efficiency
• Drives Automation within Operations
• Supports the procurement department during more complex procurement processes regarding the adherence to technical specifications.
• Presents conducted MAIT activities, also in front of customers
• Supports proposal work and claim management
• Advises engineering / project management with know-how in the area of shipment/delivery
• Advises engineering / operations with know-how in the area of certification and machine guideline

In addition to the standard ME responsibilities, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer must also take over the following tasks:

• Support / deputy of the ME Manager
• Training and sponsoring of new employees and interns
• Regular proposal work and cost estimation for new projects
• Establishes MAIT concepts for new projects and evaluates feasibility
• Lead industrialization efforts for site level new products and processes

Your Profil

• University degree or technical college degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or similar
• 7-10+ years previous hands-on Engineering experience in a more complex manufacturing setting, ideally in the Space or Aerospace sector
• Hands-on mentality
• Customer – and Product – oriented mindset
• Strong leadership and communication skills

Nice to have’s:

• Experience in manufacturing technologies and basic knowledge of materials science are an advantage
• SAP know-how
• Know-how in lean manufacturing or operational excellence
• Production line leadership experience
• Experience with MES (SAP), CAD and other relevant complex software
• Experience in composite and metallic structures.
