Job summary

Randstad Switzerland is assisting a leading multinational Healthcare & Medical Technology company in seeking a Senior Legal Counsel – Privacy & Data Protection. The role focuses on GDPR, data protection, and digital regulations across EMEA, with responsibility for strategic and operational guidance within a global legal team.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Commercial, HR, Finance, and research partners to ensure compliance, support clinical trials, AI initiatives, and data-sharing

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Law with active Bar membership (Bar Exam mandatory).
• Must-have MedTech or Pharma/Biotech in-house experience.
• Certification: CIPP/E or equivalent data privacy certification.
• Minimum 7 years of post-qualification legal experience with privacy and data protection focus.
• Experience advising on product development, digital/AI, clinical research, and healthcare data analytics.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational guidance on GDPR, data protection, and digital regulations for EMEA.
• Advise cross-functional teams (Engineering, Commercial, HR, Finance) to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Support data analytics initiatives and data-sharing collaborations with hospitals and universities.
• Draft and negotiate contracts in multiple European languages.

On behalf of our client, a leading multinational Healthcare & Medical Technology company, we are currently looking for a Senior Legal Counsel – Privacy & Data Protection.

General Information:

• Contract: Permanent
• Location: Canton of Vaud (Lake Geneva Region)
• Home office: Hybrid model

Objective:

Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, you will serve as a key legal advisor on all aspects of EMEA privacy, data protection, and digital regulations (including GDPR, AI, clinical trials, and R&D). As part of an international legal team, you will provide strategic and operational guidance to cross-functional business units (Engineering, Commercial, HR, Finance...), ensuring regulatory compliance while actively supporting data analytics and collaborative initiatives with hospitals and universities.

Your profile:

• Master’s degree in Law (JD or equivalent) with an active Bar membership (Bar Exam mandatory).
• Mandatory MedTech or Pharma/Biotech in-house experience (candidates with exclusively external law firm / consultancy background will not be considered).
• Must-have certification: CIPP/E (or equivalent recognized data privacy certification).
• Minimum 7 years of post-qualification legal experience, with extensive expertise in EMEA privacy and data protection laws.
• Proven hands-on track record advising on product development, digital/AI technologies, clinical research, and healthcare data analytics (including data-sharing collaborations with hospitals and research institutes).
• Ability to thrive in a scaling, fast-paced corporate environment with evolving processes.
• Fluent English plus fluency in at least 1-2 additional European languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish) with proven ability to negotiate and draft contracts in these languages.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with AI technology assessment and software/digital medical device regulations.
