Job summary

World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva seeks an experienced translator and quality assessor for the Asian Languages Section 1, PCT Translation Division. You will translate, post-edit and review Korean-to-English texts for patent-related content, ensuring accuracy and consistency across technical material.

You will mentor translators, help develop training materials, and contribute to terminology assets and QA processes, leveraging CAT/NMT/AI tools to improve quality and delivery.

Qualifications

• Advanced translation, revision, editing and quality assessment skills.
• Ability to give authoritative feedback on translation.
• Ability to grasp scientific, technical and legal issues across fields.
• Ability to train and guide translators.

Responsibilities

• Assess translation quality of suppliers' Korean->English translations.
• Provide authoritative responses to queries from agencies, freelancers, internal translators and end users; review processes.
• Translate, post-edit and self-revise texts in scientific and technical subjects from Korean to English.
• Train, mentor and provide feedback to translators and fellows; develop training materials and guidelines.
• Contribute to terminology database development and research; support quality assurance measures.
• Assist in selecting translation tests for employment and external providers.
• Use and evaluate CAT, NMT and AI tools; collaborate with tech team on tool adoption and impact on quality.
• Stay updated on translation developments; perform related duties as required.
