Job summary

Global Roles seeks a Legal Officer to provide complex legal and procedural advice for IPCC activities, including interpretation of rules, contract review and coordination with WMO Legal Counsel. The role supports observer accreditation, partnerships with governments and UN bodies, drafting memoranda of understanding and other legal instruments, and advising senior officials.

Excellent command of English is essential; knowledge of French desirable.

Qualifications

Master's degree or equivalent in international law.
7+ years of combined national/international legal experience, UN preferred.
Expertise in public international law and law of international organizations.
Experience drafting memoranda of understanding, contracts, IP/copyright matters.
Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple workloads.
Excellent English drafting; French desirable.

Responsibilities

Provide complex legal and procedural advice related to IPCC activities.
Conduct legal research and prepare briefs, reports and correspondence.
Review legal documents and identify key issues.
Clear permission/copyright requests to reproduce IPCC material.
Assist in reviewing observer accreditation applications and maintain the observers list.
Develop and manage partnerships with governments and UN bodies.
Draft Memoranda of Understanding and other legal contracts.
Coordinate with WMO Legal Counsel on cross-cutting legal positions.
Carry out other relevant duties as required.
