Job summary

ELCA Switzerland and Europe is seeking a seasoned Delivery Manager to supervise project leaders and hands-on lead complex client projects. You will own the delivery portfolio, align with offshore teams, manage risks, and collaborate with client partners to shape tender responses.

You will drive AI-supported engineering and agentic approaches, and contribute to strategic development of the Java Business Line in partnership with the Head of Business Line.

Qualifications

• Degree in IT or related field is required.
• 10+ years of leading complex, large software engineering projects.
• Experience with modern architecture, cloud, DevOps, quality engineering and agile or hybrid delivery.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead project leaders and teams, coaching them and acting as escalation point.
• Lead complex, large projects from scoping to go-live with hands-on involvement.
• Own the delivery portfolio, monitoring status, risks, margin, staffing and client satisfaction with KPI oversight.
• Collaborate with offshore teams in Mauritius and Vietnam.
• Lead tenders and pre-sales workshops, supporting business development with client partners.
• Drive AI-supported and Agentic Engineering across teams and share learnings across the business line.
• Shape the strategy of the Java Business Line in collaboration with the Head of Business Line.

Job description

Build high-value software with AI-powered engineering in a team that takes ownership, grows together and delivers. As part of the ELCA Java Business Line, you are accountable for a portfolio of demanding client projects. You supervise and lead the project leaders in your portfolio, lead major projects yourself, and work in close exchange with our clients and client partners. You contribute to the evolution of the business line. You also drive the transformation of software engineering towards AI-supported and agentic ways of working, in your teams and across the business line.

The role:

• Supervise and lead project leaders and teams: Be their point of contact for delivery and development: steer and review their projects, coach them and act as escalation point. You also manage your teams and take part in recruiting.
• Lead complex, large projects yourself: Take full responsibility for demanding client projects, from scoping to go-live. You lead them hands-on, not just from the side.
• Own the delivery portfolio: Keep track of status, risks, margin, staffing and client satisfaction, and steer with the Head of Business Line using clear KPIs. Work closely with our offshore teams in Mauritius and Vietnam.
• Work closely with the customer: Be a visible counterpart for client stakeholders, manage expectations and resolve issues early, in tandem with the client partner who owns the relationship.
• Lead and supervise tenders and offers: Shape them with a strong delivery view, take part in pre-sales meetings and workshops, and support business development, together with the client partner, architects and sales.
• Drive the transformation towards AI-supported and Agentic Engineering: Start in your own portfolio and teams, pilot and scale new ways of working (e.g. coding agents, AI-supported testing and review), and share what works across the business line.
• Shape the strategy of the business line: Contribute to its strategic definition and development, in close collaboration with the Head of Business Line and the other Delivery Managers.

Your profile

• Degree in IT or a related field and 10+ years leading complex, large software engineering projects.
• Hands-on project lead who also leads and coaches other project leaders, including escalations.
• Modern architecture, cloud, DevOps, quality engineering and agile or hybrid delivery, with enough technical credibility to talk to engineers and customers.
• Client-facing delivery communication and tender work from a delivery perspective, ideally in public or regulated sectors.
• Interest in, and ideally experience with, AI coding assistants and agents, plus the ability to lead change in teams and with customers.
• You act like the owner of your projects, with an eye on value for the customer and for ELCA.
• Business-fluent German is a must; fluent English; French is a plus.
