Job summary

Fusionality, Lausanne, seeks a Senior Control Systems Engineer to join the founding team and build core technology for fusion plasma control.

The role covers real-time control, data acquisition, and software-hardware integration across products, with leadership in a growing team and translation of customer needs into specs. Lausanne-based, competitive salary and equity offered.

Qualifications

• Experience taking hard-real-time acquisition and control loops from incomplete requirements through to commissioning on hardware.
• Full stack: familiarity with real-time technologies from DAQ to middleware and RTOS.
• Fluency in C, C++, Rust, MATLAB/Simulink, Python; emphasis on code quality and reliability.
• Experience with distributed real-time systems, real-time networking, and field buses is an advantage.
• Embedded/μC/FPGA technologies or safety-critical systems experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement real-time control, analysis, and data acquisition systems from kHz to MHz ranges as an individual contributor and teammate.
• Integrate solutions across company products and on in-house test beds.
• Provide technical leadership within the growing real-time control and software team.

We are looking for a Senior Control Systems Engineer to join our founding team in Lausanne and help build our core technology.

This job is for you if you are a passionate engineer with deep knowledge cutting across real-time / embedded systems, software and hardware, and excited about building the systems to monitor and control real-world fusion plasmas.

Tasks

• Implement real-time control, analysis, data acquisition systems in the kHz to MHz range, as individual contributor and in a team.
• Integrate solutions across a variety of company products and services as well as on our in-house test beds.
• Provide technical leadership within a growing real-time control and software engineering team that you will help to build.
• Translate customer needs into requirements and specifications.

Requirements

• Experience taking hard-real-time acquisition and control loops from incomplete requirements through to commissioning on hardware, in domains such as automotive, robotics, embedded, electrical and/or scientific instrumentation.
• 'Full stack': familiarity with all aspects of real-time technologies, from physical/DAQ, real-time software frameworks and middleware, real-time OS and integration.
• Fluency in a mix of high-level and low-level languages such as C, C++, Rust, MATLAB/Simulink, Python. Obsession with code quality, testing and reliability.
• Experience with distributed real-time systems, real-time networking and field buses and/or SCADA is an advantage.
• Experience with embedded/μC/FPGA technologies and/or safety critical systems is an advantage.
