Proxima Fusion GmbH is a leading fusion technology company driving the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion plant. We seek an Electrical Technician to develop electrical infrastructure, install, maintain, and troubleshoot systems across our R&D facilities in Villigen and Böttstein, Switzerland.
You will connect experiments to measurement and control systems, wire panels and interfaces, and support commissioning and safety standards in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Proxima Fusion is Europe’s fastest-growing fusion company and the continent’s best-funded fusion player, as well as the first spin‑out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP). Backed by over €650M and powered by a growing team across Munich, Zurich, and Oxford, we are developing the hardware and infrastructure needed to deliver the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion power plant.
Our concept advances the most mature fusion technology out there, the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator, through two next‑generation machines: Alpha and Stellaris. Our work combines stellarator optimization, advanced computation, machine learning, and high‑temperature superconducting magnets to unlock higher‑performance designs that were previously out of reach.
Turning these designs into a functioning fusion power plant requires excellence and ownership across every discipline, from physics and engineering to software, manufacturing, law, and business functions.
Play a defining role in designing and integrating the systems that will power the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion plant, influencing decisions that shape the future of clean energy.
Work across magnet design, HTS technology, manufacturing, structural integration, and controls, turning cutting‑edge science into real hardware.
Join a highly ambitious, multidisciplinary team that combines cutting‑edge simulation with hands‑on engineering, turning bold ideas into real hardware on the path to commercial fusion.
You will get to work on some of the most complex tech challenges to bring abundant, safe, clean energy to the world.
You’ll get to join and learn from an exceptional selection of accomplished and driven individuals.
Do your life’s best work and enjoy the journey.
Get to show that big things are possible in Europe when you assemble the best talent.
We are looking for an Electrical Technician to support our R&D activities across our sites in Villigen and Böttstein, Aargau. You will be responsible for developing electrical infrastructure and executing electrical installation, maintenance and troubleshooting tasks for our R&D facilities & experiments. Your work will directly enable our teams to build, test, and iterate faster.
You will help connect our experiments to their measurement and control systems.
Assemble control panels, junction boxes and cabinets. Wire sensors, heaters, instrumentation, and related electrical interfaces.
Support integration of power supplies, control panels, acquisition systems, and test equipment from an electrical perspective.
Assist with electrical checks, verification, and commissioning of experimental setups.
Diagnose and repair electrical faults, component failures, and other problems affecting experiments.
You will support the definition and upgrade of electrical infrastructure for our R&D program.
Power and connect our experimental setups, prototype rigs, and manufacturing equipment.
Oversee electrical interventions by external contractors.
Reliable operation depends on fast diagnosis and safe maintenance of electrical systems.
Ensure installations and modifications are safe and compliant with relevant norms, regulations and internal procedures.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical infrastructure, test hardware, and support systems.
Ensure that installations are neat, maintainable, and consistent with industrial norms. Maintain a safe, functional, and organized electrical environment.
We are looking for an Electrical Technician who is safety‑conscious, deeply practical, and enjoys making technical systems work reliably.
Training and practical experience as an Electrician, Electrical Technician, or similar.
Good knowledge of safe electrical working practices and regulations.
Comfortable with producing and reading electrical diagrams, sizing cables and protection devices, performing modifications, and troubleshooting real systems.
Comfortable working in a dynamic R&D environment where setups evolve quickly and where engineers, scientists, and technicians collaborate closely.

At Proxima Fusion, our mission is bold: making limitless clean energy a reality. To get there, we need a high‑performing, diverse team that brings different perspectives, challenges assumptions, and builds together with purpose. We know that diversity of thought and experience leads to better ideas, stronger execution, and a more resilient team. We don’t look at how you identify, what you look like, who you choose to worship or what ethnicity you are. We care about what you can bring to the table.
