Job summary

Roche in Basel, Switzerland seeks a Senior Computational and Applied AI Scientist to advance translational AI for Immunology and CVRM. You will develop models and pipelines, explainable AI, and collaborate across gRED and pRED to accelerate discovery and clinical translation.

You will bridge computational methods with wet-lab science, work on multi-omics data, and contribute to a cross-functional team driving impactful medicines for patients worldwide.

Qualifications

• PhD (preferred) in Computational Biology, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Artificial Intelligence
• 3+ years post-doctoral or biopharmaceutical industry experience delivering applied AI and data science solutions in a drug-discovery setting
• Hands-on experience with causal inference toolkits, graph neural networks, or generative models on biomedical data
• Experience adapting large-scale biological foundation models or building dynamic systems models to capture temporal disease progression
• Elite communication and teamwork skills, cross-functional catalyst between computational engineers and wet-lab scientists

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy translational and applied AI frameworks to accelerate Immunology and CVRM portfolios
• Move beyond correlation to systems-level mechanistic understanding of disease and target biology
• Co-develop and implement explainable and causal ML models to map disease pathways
• Bridge translational gaps with domain adaptation and cross-species translation algorithms
• Collaborate with clinical scientists, wet-lab experts, biostatisticians and engineers to convert questions into computational pipelines
