Zusammenfassung

Rivero is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and extend the Kajo platform, a distributed event-sourced backend. You’ll work across the stack in a small, product-focused team, building features, maintaining code quality, and enabling the team with AI-assisted tooling.

Primary work will involve Kotlin and Go on the backend, with occasional frontend tasks. Zurich-based HQ supports in-person collaboration, flexible hybrid options, and a fast-paced, growth-driven environment.

Tasks — What you can expect from the job

Kajo is a distributed application built around the architectural concept of event sourcing, designed to support our customers as well as our internal scheme compliance experts.

As a senior backend engineer, you will collaborate with our team on the following responsibilities:

• Expand the current functionality of Kajo with new features and improvements.
• Maintain the existing codebase(s), identify pain points, and suggest solutions.
• Develop tools that help internal users manage the operational workload.
• Lead the design and implementation of new parts of the stack as the product requirements grow.
• Use AI coding tools as a core part of your daily workflow, and help the team find better ways to use them to move faster and raise code quality.
• Pick up the occasional frontend ticket or end-to-end task alongside your backend work — we're a small, product-focused team and value engineers who can move across the stack when it's useful.
• Use your experience to enable fellow engineers by sharing your knowledge and unique points of view.

Requirements — What We Expect From You

A sharp eye for detail and edge cases — as a fintech involved in scheme compliance, this is an important aspect of the role, both during implementation and the review process.

We value effective communication and everyday collaboration. Thus, we are looking for an experienced engineer capable of delivering high quality cloud/web applications who is also comfortable working in an AI‑assisted way and open to picking up work outside a narrow backend lane.

Our requirements

Our main backend language is Kotlin and you will be mainly writing Kotlin code as part of this job. If you are not familiar with Kotlin you can still apply if any subset of the following applies to you:

• Proficiency in any JVM language
• Exceptional expertise in any modern backend language
• Can work comfortably outside the confines of a language framework
• Feel confident that you can learn Kotlin with minimal guidance in a timely fashion
• Are willing to take a technical challenge in Kotlin
• Experience with distributed web applications
• Experience with relational databases
• Experience with designing application APIs
• Regular, hands‑on use of AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code) in your day-to-day engineering work, and an interest in helping the team get more out of them
• Comfortable working outside a strict backend scope when needed — for example, picking up a frontend task or writing end-to-end tests.

• Familiarity with TypeScript and Vue.js, or frontend experience more broadly
• Familiarity with other Infrastructure or DevOps tools mentioned before.
