Jobbeschreibung

Summarizing the way Mobility works in one word? Nearly impossible. Let’s use four instead: MORK means “more than just work.” As pioneers in car sharing, we have a long history of driving change and shaping the future of mobility in Switzerland. Sustainability, innovation, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do. We embrace challenges, support one another, and create an environment where everyone can make a meaningful impact.

To support the growth of our digital platform, we are looking for a Backend Product Engineer to join our headquarters in Rotkreuz and help us build the technology powering one of Switzerland’s leading mobility services.

Role Overview

As a Backend Product Engineer, you will design, develop, and operate scalable backend services within a modern microservice architecture. Working in agile, cross-functional product teams, you will collaborate closely with frontend engineers, QA specialists, designers, and product managers to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions that support Mobility’s business and customers.

You will contribute to architectural decisions, drive technical excellence, and take ownership of services throughout their entire lifecycle following DevOps principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and operate scalable backend services within a microservice-oriented architecture.
  • Implement business requirements following Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles.
  • Design and continuously improve communication and integration patterns, including REST/OpenAPI interfaces and Kafka topics and schemas.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of services following DevOps principles (“you build it, you run it”).
  • Monitor and operate services using logging, metrics, and alerting tools.
  • Analyze incidents, troubleshoot issues, and continuously optimize system performance.
  • Contribute to architecture, technology, and integration decisions across the platform.
  • Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, QA specialists, and product teams in agile environments.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering best practices and quality standards.
  • Maintain clear, sustainable, and well-structured technical documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience within the JVM ecosystem, particularly with Java, Spring Boot, Gradle, and Git.
  • Strong experience designing and operating microservices-based architectures.
  • Experience with container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
  • Experience deploying and operating applications in cloud environments, ideally Microsoft Azure.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, scalability patterns, and fault tolerance.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for software quality and reliability.
  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional product teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Fluent German (C1) and English (B2/C1) [Mandatory].
What We Offer
  • A dynamic and innovative workplace with a strong culture of collaboration.
  • The opportunity to contribute to Switzerland’s mobility transition and make a real impact.
  • Modern technologies, autonomous teams, and meaningful technical challenges.
  • Professional growth and continuous learning opportunities.
  • Competitive salary and attractive benefits package.
  • Flexible working conditions and a strong commitment to work-life balance.
  • An inspiring work environment where MORK is more than just a concept—it's part of everyday life.
